My youngest is heading to St. Louis for a new job 🎉 — and a mama’s gotta make sure his place looks good before he goes. 😄
We found this desk on Facebook Marketplace but the maple finish wasn’t doing it any favors. So naturally… I refinished it. 🖤
Base coat: Benjamin Moore Black Beauty. Top: a custom faux wood grain finish applied by hand. What was a bargain find is now a one-of-a-kind piece he’ll have for years.
This is exactly why I love what I do — you don’t always need new. Sometimes you just need the right finish.

A little something different…

This isn’t our typical project, but it was for one of our past clients, and we were happy to help bring this carved eagle back to life.

Nicole did a beautiful job on this restoration, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

It’s been pretty hot here, but having the tent and a gorgeous riverfront view made for a pretty incredible office for the day! 🦅🌿

Your walls deserve more than simply flat paint... sometimes it deserves to become a work of art.

For this basement transformation, we created two custom hand-applied finishes that completely changed the feel of the space.

✨ The light walls feature a smooth Venetian plaster custom tinted to Benjamin Moore Pale Oak, adding subtle movement, warmth, and depth.

✨ The dark accent walls are finished with a custom layered linen texture, creating a rich, moody backdrop that changes beautifully with the light throughout the day.

It’s the contrast between soft and dramatic that makes this room feel so inviting.

A finish this custom can’t come off a shelf.
This project was a true collaboration between a talented local interior designer, an exceptional local craftsman, and Bella Muri.
Working from the designer’s vision and a single inspiration sample, every piece of cabinetry, wine racking, ceiling plank, and architectural woodwork was hand-finished in our studio using a custom cerused technique developed specifically for this project. The goal wasn’t to hide the beauty of the oak—it was to enhance it. Having the opportunity to work on a team with such talented local professionals is truly an honor and one of my favorite parts of what I do.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since Ryan made his debut with the . We finally got around to framing his jerseys and some of the special photos from that unforgettable week.

While Ryan is now happily with the and recovering from Tommy John surgery, we’ll always have a special place in our hearts for the Cardinals organization because they gave him his first opportunity in the big leagues.

As I started looking for someone to frame these memories, I came across , they are a local Barrington business and they offered exactly what I was looking for that other large chain framing stores didn’t offer. Matt and Nicole were awesome to work with from start to finish. Matt is so passionate about his craft and great at what he does! We’re so happy with how these frames turned out.

Beautiful solid walnuts to work to us a little bit beat up not as beautiful as it could be. I’ve had a dark stain on it that did not do it justice. We stripped off the old finish and gave it a beautiful durable satin finish to enhance its natural beauty, not hide it.

This is what venetian plaster actually looks like up close. 👆
Here’s something most people don’t know — “venetian plaster” isn’t just one thing. It’s actually a whole family of techniques. There’s the ultra-high-polish version that looks like glass. There’s marmorino, which mimics the depth of real marble. And then there’s this — a burnished finish with visible trowel movement, color variation, and texture you can actually feel. Same category, totally different result.
Every application is completely hand-done, which means no two walls are ever exactly the same. That depth, that texture, that subtle shimmer? You can’t roll that on.

This powder room had good bones but needed a personality. We took it from bright and builder-basic to moody and luxurious with a custom Italian Venetian plaster finish in Benjamin Moore Black Bean - hand applied on every wall. The ceiling got a soft white plaster finish to balance the drama without losing the depth. Sometimes all a space needs is the right finish.
