Garden & Plant projects in Houston, TX. I hope to inspire others to start planting!

Satsumas are ripening & are sooooo good! Very nostalgic for me, walking through the satsuma orchards with friends in my hometown. Plus, my grandfather always had a satsuma tree loaded down in his yard. 🧡🍊

5-6 weeks of growth! That sweet potato vine is always so fun and vibrant. Also…I never planted any this year. This returns for me year after year from underground tubers. 💚

Y’all… 😍😍😍 I have no words for this beast. I love her. The end.

This is the time of year that I have to play the guessing game, “Is it a tomato or is it a muscadine?” 😆 because it’s both!!! My Matt’s wild cherry tomato gets so entangled with the muscadine that I can barely tell them apart!

Well if I’m 5’7”…what do we think?! 8-9 feet?? Alocasia ‘Dark Star’ - she’s several years old now and leaning over so bad that I have to prop her up - I keep wondering how long she’ll go like this, but she surprises me every year. She seems happy so I’m not changing anything! She’s thrown out some babies so her legacy shall live on 😂

Today’s pickings 👩🏻‍🌾 Had to harvest the potatoes even though they’re small because the caterpillars ate up all the leaves 🐛 I have carrots pretty much year round, they get a little hairy but nothing different about the taste once peeled! Pickling cucumbers, purple Cherokee and Early black tomatoes, herbs, plus my favorite Matt’s wild cherry tomatoes which have decided to pop up in many places around the garden 😆

30 seconds of pure peaceful background noise, courtesy of last year’s Mothers Day gift of chimes and the pool water feature. Enjoy!!!

A little glimpse of what the first week of May looks like in my backyard! Tomatoes ripening, zinnias and weeds going crazy 🤪, tropicals all in varying stages of growth! It’s a beautiful time here in Houston!

When you work for a garden center…you get first dibs 😆 I’ll be discussing these beauties in detail soon, but we’ve got Alocasia Brancifolia ‘Pink Passion’, Alocasia ‘Dawn’, and Alocasia/Xanthosoma ‘Mickey Mouse’
