With freezing temperatures possibly on the way, taking a few simple steps now can save you from burst pipes and costly repairs later.
✅ WHAT TO DO BERFORE A FREEZE
• Insulate exposed pipes (attics, garages, exterior walls)
• Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses
• Cover outdoor faucets with insulated covers
• Open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior of home to allow warm air to circulate
• Let faucets drip very slowly overnight (especially on exterior walls)
• If you’ll be away, shut off your main water valve and drain the system
💧 IF A PIPE FREEZES
• Turn the water off immediately and call a licensed plumber. Do NOT use open flames to thaw pipes.
