"Our Work is Our Signature."
Welcome, friends!
Instead of having to blindly find your way through the aftermath of Ida, I figured I would put together a list of helpful tips from my journey to recovery from Laura as both a Resident AND an Independent Contractor. I will post these updates periodically to help keep those who wish to be educated well informed.
Here is a super quick backstory. I finished my Biology/Pre-med degree at McNeese and started my own contracting business not long after Hurricane Laura. I’ve been in construction my whole life, so it was second nature to me. Especially having a father that also owns his own Contracting company.
The guy who had a negative balance in his bank account while starting a contracting business during the aftermath of Hurricane Laura with nothing but a broken home, a magnetic tarp hammer, and a dream. I really do pray that this finds everyone who needs it
We are all in this together. Coming home less than 24 hours to a city that looks completely different than it did yesterday when you left it. Wondering if trees have blocked your road or have fallen on your home. Calling those who stayed behind to kindly ask them to drive by your home to send you pictures of whatever damage may have been done, with the hopes that this will somehow ease the blow to what you will be walking into for the next few months. The pitch black nights down our streets that are usually lit up with light. The only thing you can hear at night when you go to bed are the sounds of all of the generators running in your neighborhood. Hoping that the moon stays bright for just a few more nights so that you can see yourself bathing outside while trying to dodge the mosquitos.
Navigating through the aftermath of a hurricane can be an extremely daunting process, but always remember; “Even the strongest people fall sometimes. There’s no shame in breaking. Just remember, true strength comes from lifting yourself up when you’re down. Don’t ever give up.” “It is not in numbers, but in unity, that our great strength lies.”
I have repaired SEVERAL homes that were destroyed by Hurricane Laura. So trust me when I say that I have seen light at the end of your long tunnel and I have made it my top priority/responsibility to help get you there.
