I have to apologize that I have not introduced “Kenny” to every one. Kenny is a registered (real) Service Animal & he also plays in a lot of important roles here at Retro Plumb Inc too!

Kenny is the standing Vice President, also fills the role of our Safety Manager & he is also head of HR. So he wears a lot of hats at Retro Plumb Inc, & he comes pretty cheap too.

Now, as everybody knows, every upside always come with a few downsides. Kenny has a few additions that gets him trouble at times. He has a really bad gambling addiction, but to be honest, he is really good at poker. He has been to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada, TWICE!

And along with any gambling addictions, follows alcohol. Why do these cocktail waitress’s serve him??? I will get up to grab something to drink or use the bathroom, when I come back, sure enough, he has either a Corona or Vodka Sour sitting in front of him. And on MY TAB of course!

Regardless, Kenny & I have spent over a decade together & I pray to still have many years to come. He is the true definition of “A man’s best friend.” 🥰

“We do things that other companies do not even think about!” 😎

Customer bought a Price Pfister faucet from Lowe’s, & has been paying a plumber once a year to rebuild it. 😢

As I have explained before, products from Lowe’s, Home Depot, Menards & any other retail store, all are made from different plants with most of them coming from China.

The products that we use, come from a plumbing supply house, they are USA made & should easily last 20-25 years. 💪🏼

This customer trusted us not only to do the work, but allowed me to pick out the faucet as well.

We started out by finding the location of the studs. We then strategically measured & mark the drywall so we would be able to gain access to the old tub/shower valve. We then cut the drywall with a carpenter’s knife in which eliminates mostly all of the dust.

We cut out the old valve, then scrubbed & cleaned the soap & grime from the front of the tub where the old escutcheon was.

Using a torch, we used 1/2” rigid copper & sweat the new valve in. With the valve body that we installed, they should NEVER have to cut into the wall cavity again.

All that is left is to install my “hand picked” tub/shower trim. Most tub/shower trim around here only have one lever. In order to have hot water, you have to be at full volume.

What is unique about my tub/shower trim is that volume & temperature are controlled separately. The big handle is what controls your volume & the smaller handle in front, controls temperature.

What is nice about this feature is that you can set your desired temperature & leave it. Now every time you go to bathe, you just turn on the volume control & you never have to worry about wasting water because you keep adjusting the know to find that perfect temperature.

Secondly, high volume on young children & elderly people, a lot of times is way to high, especially if they are getting assistance while bathing. With our tub/shower valve, you set it at the desired temperature & use however weak or strong volume that you need.

All that is left, is to reinstall the piece of drywall in the closet leaving the customer a simple repair! 🤗

Here are “Before” & “After” pics of a couple of toilet installs that we did for you to enjoy. We are not just trying to show off our toilet, but these pictures also that we leave the job site “as clean” or “cleaner” upon our arrival.

When a lot of people are looking to purchase a new toilet, they go to their closest retail store & head straight to the toilet isle. Within just a few moments, the customer ends up so overwhelmed just with the amount & variety of selections.

Which one to buy??? 🤷🏻‍♂️

There are several different bowl designs, like wash down, reverse trap, siphon jet, siphon vortex, & now they even have siphon vortex & jet in the same toilet!!! 🤯

Also, different toilet manufacturers have several different mechanisms on how to flush & different size passageways (trap) to choose from.

[NOTE: The toilets with the cute little “push 1 or 2” buttons on top of the tank lid are not dependable toilets & are probably one of the most unsanitary toilets you could buy.]

So what most customers do, they end up choosing their toilet based on price. They do not want to spend $1,000 on that golden toilet with built in bidet, nor do they put much faith in the $79 Glacier Bay “Handyman Special”. The customer just ends up picking something priced in between that fits their budget along with maybe a brand that they have heard of before, but they really have no idea what they are purchasing.

When you use Retro Plumb Inc, we have already did the all the research for you. We are extremely product particular here, & not with only toilets, but with all our products. We will NEVER install anything in your home that we would not install in our own.

In 1994, the government said we were using too much water & mandated that any toilet manufactured after January 1st of 1995 cannot use more than 1.6gpf (gallons per flush). ALL toilet manufacturers throughout the late 90’s really struggled trying to come up with a toilet that flushed aggressively enough.

This little guy pictured is the fifth generation of this toilet line, but it made its first debut in 1998. I personally have a second gen that has been installed in my home for 18 years & I have never had a problem.

We take all the guesswork out of your plumbing. We thrive on educating our customers so that they can make their own best decision.

We come with the utmost integrity, professionalism, along with the best quality of material & workmanship that you can find, all backed up with World Class Customer Service.

Retro Plumb Inc is your PRV (pressure reducing valve) experts!!! You will not find another company that uses the quality of material & the workmanship that we do!

For this beautiful cabin on Lake Norris, we not only replaced their PRV, we also replaced their entire main water line from street to crawl space & it all came with 10 YEAR WARRANTY!!!

A couple of “extras” that we included was we not only added a pressure gauge right after the PRV, we installed an extra isolation valve & a drain valve so that the customer can winterize during the cold months.

But that is not all!!! We rerouted the new water main in the crawl space over to by the crawl door & added a second isolation valve that can easily be reached by the crawl door! 🤗

If you need your PRV inspected or replaced, or just want educated about PRV’s & TXT’s (thermal expansion tanks), just give us a call!

🛑 PLUMB AT YOUR OWN RISK! 🛑

We were performing a proposal for a customer that had a leak on their water main & look what we ran into in the crawlspace! 😱

I am from Indiana & the only place you could see something like this is at the zoo. I am not exaggerating, this guy was at least 8ft long!!! He could probably swallow my Chihuahua, Kenny, in one bite.

Tennessee is going to take some getting use to.

*** ALWAYS FREE PROPOSALS ***

Hiring the right plumber, with the right skillset, will make a HUGE impact on your home! 🤗

Here are a few examples of some water heaters, water softeners, pressure tanks & utility rooms that we have installed & cleaned up. I also added a couple of projects plumbed correctly with the way pex should be plumbed.

Most of your plumbing system is going to be stashed away behind drywall. But where your plumbing is going to be exposed, like a basement, garage, a mechanical or utility room, is very important to look “Top Notch”! 🏆

I have seriously have had customers call me after another plumbing company came in did some sort of replumb in pex for a second opinion. The projects looked like some spaghetti factory. Some of the projects looked so bad, the customer ended paying me to redo the work that they just paid the other company for.

So if you have a water heater, water softener, a repipe or utility room that needs tidied up, please give us a call!

How does people make repairs like this to people’s homes, charge them for it, & then go home & sleep at night??? 🤯

Nobody likes paying for a plumber, I get it. But I would rather pay somebody for a quality repair that comes with peace of mind that it was done correctly, it comes with a warranty, also you know that company is insured & will come back if anything should happen.

Luckily, this customer’s home is on a crawl or when this shady repair blew apart, it would have cost them tens of thousands of dollars. 😳

After thirty-one years in the trade, just when you thought that you have seen it all, & I come across this. I have never seen this & I absolutely no idea how it held as long as it did.

For just the average joe, at first glance, this repair may actually look alright, but let’s look at it alittle closer.

I am speculating, but my best educated guess is that there was a shut off valve located here before & it was either nonfunctional or leaking. So the unskilled plumber or handyman, cut out the old valve for it to be replaced.

The new valve that they attempted to put in is called & made out of CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride). It is a plastic valve that was intended TO BE GLUED ONLY with a special solvent called Flow Guard Gold. But since this unskilled laborer does not know how to solder, he attempted to add lots of thread tape around the copper pipe & force the plastic fitting onto the copper. smh

Secondly, the pipe was not long enough after the old valve was removed, so the wannabe plumber used a product that they call, “Sharkbites”, a short piece of copper & forced it into the other side of the CPVC valve.

Sharkbites, which I call, “Lego Fittings”, are only used by the inexperienced and/or lazy people. I have fired employees for using a Sharkbite fitting. These fittings are a push/pull fitting that you can connect & disconnect waterlines with just two fingers. They are unreliable & nothing but a shortcut to take the easy way out. If you ever hire any plumber or handyman & they bring in Sharkbites to use, please, immediately dismiss them.

Sharkbites are easily identified by the orange plastic collars. There are also other manufacturers that use other colors like green & gray.

Some customers may look at my pricing & say that I am too high. Actually, it is that other companies & handymen are too cheap.

Peace of mind with quality parts & workmanship, backed with warranties & World Class Customer Service that cannot be matched, does come with a cost. But when it comes to paying someone else to come back & do it right, or someone flooding or burning down your home, the more expensive guy is worth every penny! 🤗

If you ever need a plumber & you want to have that “Peace of Mind”, give us a call!
