🌞 How Hot Is Too Hot for Your Pool? 💦

As Florida temperatures rise, so does your pool water!

While warm water can feel nice, pool temperatures above 88°F are generally not recommended. Once water reaches this range, it becomes much more difficult to maintain proper water chemistry.

Here’s why:
✅ Chlorine is consumed much faster, making it harder to keep the water properly sanitized.
✅Ph levels rise fast due to the pool being warm which can cause cloudy water and prevent the chlorine from sanitising.
✅ Higher temperatures can increase bacteria/algae growth if sanitizer levels aren’t maintained.
✅ The pool becomes less refreshing and can even feel uncomfortable on very hot days.

If your pool is consistently 88°F or higher, it will typically require more frequent testing, chemical adjustments, and maintenance to keep the water clean, clear, and safe.

Please be aware of this and use solar/pool heaters accordingly,

Thank you,

Temps could hit 30 degrees again tonight so it’s a good idea to turn your pool equipment on overnight again.
If you have automation/variable speed pumps then the anti freeze feature should kick in automatically.

🌡️ When to run the pump
• 36°F or below → Run the pump continuously overnight

**Upcoming weekend weather cool down tips**
Manual timer clocks and variable
speed set ups.

Variable speed pumps⚠️

Most modern pool automation systems (Pentair, Hayward, Jandy, etc.) have a freeze protection feature that will automatically turn on your pool pump when the air temperature drops to a preset point (usually around 36–38°F).

Here’s how it works 👇
• The system uses an air temperature sensor
• When temps drop to the freeze threshold, it automatically:
• Turns on the pump
• May also activate valves, water features, or heaters to keep water moving
• Flowing water is much less likely to freeze and damage pipes

A few important tips ⚠️
• ❗ Freeze protection must be turned ON in the settings (it’s not always enabled by default)
• ❗ The temperature sensor must be working properly.
• ❗ If there’s a power outage, automation won’t help

What we recommend you check❗️
1. Open your automation app or control panel
2. Look for “Freeze Protection” or “Freeze Guard”
3. Confirm:
• It’s enabled
• The trigger temp (usually 36–38°F)

Intermatic timer clocks ⚠️

If you have an intermatic pool timer you’ll have to manually turn the pool pump on again oce it turns off after its scheduled run time,
please do this on the nights the temps are due to drop below 38 degrees.
Your timer will look like it does in the pic below.
Once turning the pool pump back on it’ll run through the night and through the next day until it’s due to turn off again at the scheduled time.
