Modern problems require modern solutions

Carving brass for the first time and needed a constant air stream without having to stand at the carve for 20 minutes blowing air on my cuts.

I don’t know if I‘m working smarter, but I know I’m not working harder!

Hopefully will have this wrapped up here very soon. Excited to show you my biggest job yet.

Man I’m never getting CNC bits if they’re not from IDC Woodcraft. Hands down the best in the business. They cut like butter and provide you with general feeds and speeds. Takes the guess work out.

If you’ve noticed I haven’t been posting much lately, it’s because I’ve been pretty busy working on a project that I can’t fully share just yet.

The customer deserves to see the finished reveal first, so I’ve been keeping most of it under wraps for now. I’m looking forward to showing everyone once it’s complete.

Thanks for sticking around and supporting Weiler Woodworking & Customs.

Also, for anyone who may not know, I have a YouTube channel where I post videos of my woodworking projects, CNC work, and other shop-related content. If you’d like to follow along, I’d appreciate it if you’d check it out and subscribe.

Small shop. Handmade work. Real projects. I share woodworking builds, shop time, and projects that mean something. Thanks for following along and supporting a small business. Facebook: Weiler Woodworking & Customs

A lot of people ask what a CNC machine actually does.

This is my Onefinity Journeyman. It is hands down one of the best things I’ve ever bought.

The easiest way to explain it is that it’s basically a computer-controlled cutting machine that follows a design and carves it into wood.

But even with the machine doing the cutting, there’s still a lot that goes into it—designing, setting everything up correctly, choosing the right bits, sanding, finishing, and making sure the final piece turns out clean.

The CNC helps create precision, but there’s still plenty of hands-on work involved.

It’s a really cool mix of technology and woodworking.

Before I got into it, I honestly had no idea how much went into CNC work.

Have you ever seen a CNC machine in person?

Sometimes the simplest projects can mean the most. I just made two handmade coaster sets with matching little stands — nothing overly fancy, just crafted with care in my shop.

One set is heading to a silent auction for my aunt. She recently had her cancer removed and is now going through chemotherapy to make extra sure everything stays headed in the right direction.

The other set is going to Isaiah 117 House, a non-profit organization that raises support and opportunities for foster kids.

As a small woodworking business, I’m grateful for opportunities like these. These aren’t the biggest builds or most detailed projects to come out of my shop, but being able to use what I create to support people and causes that matter means a lot.

I’ve always believed woodworking is about more than just making things — it’s about community too. If these simple coaster sets can play even a small part in helping people, then I’m honored to contribute.

I put together the full build video too, so if you’ve got about 10 minutes, give it a watch and see how these simple coaster sets came together in the shop.

Just putting the finishing touches on the simple coaster sets and their handmade stands.

Not every project that comes out of the shop is about the design or the build itself. Sometimes the meaning behind a project matters a little more.

I’ll share more on these on Wednesday, but these two sets are headed somewhere special.

Sometimes the simplest projects end up being the most challenging.

Getting clean lines, even spacing, and smooth edges on a basic build can actually take more attention to detail than people think.

Woodworking has a way of humbling you no matter how long you’ve been doing it.

That’s part of what keeps it interesting.

What’s a project you thought would be easy… but definitely wasn’t?

Still hard to believe this came from a tree. Woodworking is such a beautiful thing.
