Another exciting step forward for our sitework team: our crew recently completed training on P/K's new curb machine at the Knife River Training Center.

This new equipment expands our capabilities and allows us to take on more comprehensive concrete scopes while pursuing larger sitework opportunities. More importantly, it's another investment in our people and the continued growth of our site concrete division.

We're proud of the team for putting in the time to learn the equipment and can't wait to see it in action on its first project later this summer.

Kudos to Shawn, one of our Assistant Superintendents! Over the past 2.5+ years, he has earned the team’s trust by bringing clear communication, a positive problem-solving approach and steady leadership to our structural concrete work.

When P/K recently needed support mid-project, Shawn stepped up and moved to Wenatchee where he jumped right in to take over our job there. What stands out most about Shawn is his ability to set clear expectations, keep the crew aligned and tackle challenges calmly—even under pressure. He stays level-headed in stressful situations, which helps our team remain productive and focused on the path forward.

Kudos to our Project Engineer Aidan! Since joining P/K three years ago, he’s been a reliable and trusted team member who helps keep our projects on track supporting both structural and sitework scopes, currently for two data centers in Washington.

One of Aidan’s greatest strengths is his ability to build relationships with the people around him. Whether he's working with general contractors, trade partners or project teams, Aidan is willing and eager to connect with the right people and find solutions when challenges arise. His collaborative approach has helped create strong partnerships and solve problems quickly.

Kudos to Merle, our Detailing Coordinator! Over the past 2.5 years, he’s become an invaluable resource by helping our project teams stay ahead of challenges through detailing, BIM coordination and proactive problem-solving. Whether Merle is supporting projects like Bull Run, Goodwill or other jobs across the Willamette Valley, he takes ownership of issues and stays with them until a solution is found.

Merle is especially skilled at managing complex coordination logistics and serving as the middleman between project partners to keep construction moving along seamlessly. He’s also been helping advance our use of cmBuilder and 4D scheduling, creating new ways to visualize logistics and support planning efforts.

Merle’s reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to finding solutions help create clearer communication, stronger planning and better outcomes for our projects. Thanks for all you do, Merle! – Zach
