It was a crisp 24° when I started this morning. Nice day to be working on corn dryers. After some time trouble shooting and the owners running after parts they are both running tonight. Actually enjoyed getting out there since I'm not farming this year.

This morning's job required replacing a meter socket before it has major problems. This service is at a grain bin site. The neat thing is that Alliant Energy was able to let the customer know that there was a heat build up issue before it became a problem. We learned that their new remote meters also sense heat and notify them of a problem. In this case they dispatched a service tech and he informed the customer of impending problems. If you look at the lugs the meter plugs into in the first picture you can see 3 of them are discolored. This means there are issues such as corrosion causing resistance which creates heat build up. Usually no one knows there is a problem until the lugs burn off and there is no power. Replaced it with a larger meter panel and everything is running.

I've been working with one of the condo assn. As they redo the exterior of their building because of moisture getting into the structure and creating lots of problems. We had to tear down the 1200amp 13 meter load center so the carpenters could replace the sheeting behind it. It was a challenging project to get it torn down and back up so the owners were not out of power any longer than nessecary.
