Some pictures of a basement remodeling using reclaimed barn wood. Painted the walls black to help with gaps and knotholes. Used the same material to make three doors. Still waiting for some door hardware though. Client also put two coats of a water based polyurethane on the boards. Everyone is happy with the results.
One thing word of advice for anyone wanting to do this. Patience is a must. Since the boards I used were different thicknesses and widths, some needed to be ripped to get straight edges and proper widths. Oh and lots of dust. Make sure you have good ventilation and a mask. I put a fan in the window to help with the former.

Trying something a bit different this time. Client wants to have reclaimed lumber installed on the basement walls with matching doors. Boards are different thickness so I was thinking of ways to keep the boards from moving too much. Used biscuits, but noticed the light wood showed through. Thought of just using a marker to darken the biscuit area that would show. So far so good.

From paper template to waiting for the plaster guy. Excited to see this one finished.

Maybe hard to see, but here’s my solution to run a pull string for running new electrical wires to my garage. I wadded up a piece of cloth, tied it to a string and used my cordless blower to blow the string through the pipe. Took me a couple tries to get the ball size right. Too tight and it just stuck in a bend. Hope this is of some use to someone.

Took a bit longer than expected. Materials to be milled and weather delays, but got it done. First time ever using sapele wood. Matched the existing perfectly. Reused the existing glass panels, New door, salvaged hinges, also used Azek PVC trim where possible on the exterior.

Interesting old hinges. Of course one hinge had to have a trim screw right on the edge. Might be tricky to see , but the bit tip to extract the screw broke. After a few choice words of frustration was able to remove the broken tip and screw to finish the installation. Very happy with the results.

Some shelving built for a client. Laundry room and some basement storage. Basement opening was more than 16 feet so I decided to use some filler pieces on the ends and the center. That allowed me to use full 8 foot plywood sheets for shelving without too much waste.

Working on my new garage shop project. I came up with this solution to prevent any moisture from wicking up the plywood ( or any untreated wood) supports. I ripped some PVC trim and secured it to the bottom of them.

Fireplace mantle build. It helped that the homeowner had a picture of what they liked. Saved me time trying to figure it out from scratch. Waiting for painter to add the finishing touch.
