At 18 years old, our sons and daughters can enlist in the military, carry a r***, and be sent halfway around the world to defend our nation. They can vote, sign contracts, get married, and take on many of the responsibilities of adulthood.
Yet in many places, those same young adults are told they are not mature enough to carry a f**** for their own protection at home or on the streets where they live. Responsible g** ownership begins with training, safety, accountability, and understanding the law. F****s in the hands of educated, responsible citizens are not a danger to society; ignorance and recklessness are.
Whether you support expanded carry rights or not, we should all agree on one thing: if we trust young adults with the responsibilities of citizenship, we should invest in teaching them how to safely and responsibly exercise those rights. Knowledge, training, and responsibility should always be part of the conversation.
