We were called out to a system that was struggling to keep up with the Florida heat. When we opened the cabinet, we found a thick, matted blanket of biological growth, hair, and grime completely choking the heat-transfer fins. We got a call for a system that wasn’t cooling, and when we opened up this Goodman packaged unit, we found the evaporator coil looking like an iceberg right here in the Florida heat! 🥶

A lot of guys will just thaw it out, blindly dump some expensive refrigerant in, and hand you a bill. But an icing coil is a symptom. In this case, it meant the system was low on charge because of a LEAK. If someone just “adds freon” without finding the leak, you’ll be paying them to do it again next month! 💸
