Elevate Home Solutions just completed a massive rat infestation cleanup and full home remodel in Saint Petersburg, Florida, and the conditions were some of the worst we’ve encountered.

This home had extensive hoarding conditions, requiring 19 dumpsters—44 cubic yards EACH—to haul away accumulated belongings, junk, and remodeling debris.

Rats had chewed through plumbing, causing leaks and widespread water damage. Electrical wiring was damaged throughout the home, and the ductwork was nearly nonexistent. Rat urine and droppings contaminated ceilings, walls, and floors. Some flooring was already peeling up on its own amid the contamination and damage.

Our team worked in full-body protective suits and respirators to tackle the cleanup, demolition, and restoration.

🔨 Here’s what went into this transformation:

✅ Exterminated 103 rats
✅ Extensive cleanout and demolition of damaged materials
✅ Repaired damaged plumbing, electrical wiring, and ductwork

This was a full-blown infestation that contaminated the home so severely the contents had to be removed into an on-site dumpster while we performed a full restoration process. 😳🐀

Our team had to:
✅ Set 60+ traps throughout the property
✅ Perform deep sanitization & contamination cleanup
✅ Remove contaminated attic insulation
✅ Install brand new blow-in insulation
✅ Coordinate a temporary 3–4 day relocation for the residents during treatment
✅ Restore the home back to a safe living environment

The largest rat in Florida is the invasive Gambian pouched rat (Cricetomys gambianus), which can weigh up to 9 pounds and measure 2 to 3 feet in length. Established in the Florida Keys, these giant rodents are a prohibited, non-native species that threaten local ecosystems and agriculture
