🚨 Pool Filter Pressure Too High?

Have you noticed the pressure gauge on your pool filter climbing higher than normal?

High filter pressure is often your pool's way of telling you that water is having difficulty moving through the filtration system.

Common causes include:

💧 A dirty or clogged filter
🌿 Algae and debris buildup
🔧 A valve in the wrong position
🚫 A restriction in the return side of the system
⚙️ A change in variable-speed pump RPM
📍 A faulty pressure gauge

Here's something many pool owners don't realize: there isn't one “normal” PSI for every pool.

The important number is your pool's normal pressure with a clean filter. Knowing that baseline makes it much easier to recognize when something has changed.

We explain the causes of high filter pressure, what homeowners can safely check, and when it may be time for professional service in our latest Pool Learning Center article.

💧 Why Won’t My Pool Hold Chlorine?

You add chlorine… test the water later… and it’s already gone. What’s happening?

Florida pools can lose chlorine quickly because of intense sunlight, heavy rain, high swimmer use, early algae growth, improper stabilizer levels, and other water chemistry problems.

Simply adding more chlorine may not fix the real problem.

We break down the most common reasons your pool won’t hold chlorine — and what those warning signs may be telling you.

💨 Seeing bubbles coming from your pool return jets?

A few bubbles when your pool first starts can be normal. But if air keeps coming out of the returns, your pool may be pulling air into the circulation system.

Common causes can include:

• Low pool water level
• A clogged skimmer basket
• A loose pump lid
• A worn pump lid O-ring
• A suction-side air leak
• Problems with pool plumbing or circulation

Ignoring the problem can affect circulation and may cause your pump to lose prime or run improperly.

We explain what causes air bubbles, what homeowners can check, and when it's time to call a pool professional in our latest Pool Learning Center article.

August Pool Tip of the Month 💦

Your pool may look crystal clear—but appearances can be deceiving.

Many homeowners assume clear water means their pool is perfectly healthy. Unfortunately, that's not always true.

Your pool could still have:

🔹 Low sanitizer levels
🔹 High phosphates feeding algae
🔹 Improper pH or alkalinity
🔹 Poor circulation and filtration
🔹 Bacteria or algae beginning to develop

That's why regular professional water testing is so important.

Read our newest blog to learn how to keep your pool truly healthy—not just looking good.

🌼 Is that yellow dust in your pool... or is it algae? Don't waste money on chemicals until you know the difference!

Here's a quick test:

✅ Scoop some of the yellow dust into your hand.

• If it blows away easily and your water is still crystal clear, it's probably pollen.

• If it sticks to the walls, feels slippery, or keeps returning in the same spots, it could be mustard algae.

Many Florida pool owners mistake spring pollen for algae and end up shocking their pool when they don't need to.

Learn how to tell the difference before you spend money on unnecessary chemicals.

Have you ever mistaken pollen for algae? Tell us in the comments! 👇
