DJ Trusses Unlimited is currently seeking an in office Truss Designer to join our team in Lakeland Fl.
DJ Trusses is expanding our design team and needs experienced professional Truss Designers to accurately design trusses for custom single-family, multi-family, farm, and commercial projects. Our Truss Designer will report to the Design Manager and be accountable for roof and floor truss plans, preparing truss layouts, truss design drawings, and truss quotes. The Truss Designer will also assist in reviewing design work and feasibility analysis of construction plans relative to truss-related matters.

Responsibilities:
· Determine design specifications based on blueprints and structural design needs.
Communicate with sales, design and production teams, customers, and managers to ensure designs are accurate and timely.
Design roof and floor truss engineered systems, plans, layouts, and truss design drawings.
Complete and finalize designs for production.
Provide truss quotes using your ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements.
Optimize trusses for structural efficiency and minimal waste, ensuring design standards are satisfied.
Plan and adjust work schedule to meet changing company and customer demands.
Other related duties as assigned.
Experience/Education & Professional Qualifications:
3+ years of drafting and design experience within the construction and/or manufacturing industry.
5+ years’ experience with MiTek Structure, and MiTek Management software.
Expertise in the application and design of building components and connections of roof and roof truss systems, and other engineered wood products.
Expert blueprint reading skills (architectural, structural, and mechanical).
Knowledge of standard construction practices, national/FBC building codes, structural engineering, and carpentry.
Experience in the production of shop ready cutting, layouts, and engineering.
Experience with product costing and MiTek Management Software.
Strong Microsoft Office computer skills.
Understanding of manufacturing and logistical operations.
Post-secondary education or technical training courses in Architecture, Engineering or Drafting.
