Dive into the action of protecting Lake Austin! We’re harnessing the power of mechanical harvesting to combat invasive weeds like the notorious Eurasian Watermilfoil and Hydrilla Verticillata. Our dedicated team using cutting-edge amphibious equipment to cut and expertly harvest these invaders, all while nurturing the recovery of our precious native vegetation.

But that’s not all! Safety and effectiveness are our top priorities. We ensure that our harvesting company is fully insured and permitted by the state of Texas, and we employ strategies like turbidity curtains and barges to contain and transport the invasive weeds, stopping their spread in its tracks.

The Lohman Ford Ferry operated until 1973, after which it was acquired and repurposed as a party vessel named the Flagship Texas in 1982. This transformation involved significant redesign to accommodate social events and gatherings on the water. Tragically, in 2013, the Flagship Texas was engulfed in a fire that originated in the kitchen area, leading to its destruction. Following this incident, the remnants of the ferry were utilized in 2014 to construct a replica of a Civil War-era ironclad gunboat. This project was undertaken for a documentary by the Hays County Historical Commission, portraying a battle scenario on the Red River.

LAKE SERVICES INC was genuinely excited to take part in the remarkable journey of crafting the replica iron gunboat for the Hays County Historical Commission. This exciting project gave us a wonderful chance to help preserve history.
