Can new windows actually lower your energy costs?
Short answer: often, yes but the savings come from what your current windows are doing wrong.
Windows don’t fail all at once. They fail slowly. Seals break down, frames shift, weatherstripping flattens out, and the gap between the sash and frame gets just wide enough for conditioned air to escape. You don’t see it. You feel it. The room that’s always five degrees off, the draft near the glass in January, the AC that never seems to catch up in August.
