Today we fixed a commonly overlooked safety hazard in homes of all ages. When gas, electrical and water lines are routed through masonry walls, they need a flexible barrier between the utility line and the masonry. This is done to prevent the lines from being pinched or broken as minor shifts occur with the home. We removed the pressure from this gasline by modifying the brickwork to accommodate the path of the gasline, and installed a flexible foam and polyurethane barrier. The homeowner contacted us based on an engineer's recommendation to tuck-point the crack. Our experience saw a bigger safety issue that we were able to correct with some minor brickwork. The interior brick wythe was badly damaged by the initial gasline installation and remained unrepaired for decades.

Inadequate cap design caused the top courses of brickwork to flake. We corrected the problem by replacing the top two courses of water damaged brickwork and adding a 4 inch cement cap with a 2 inch overhanging drip edge. The new extended chimney cap will help protect the top courses of brickwork from being waterlogged in the future. Chimney caps are meant to be sacrificial in protecting the brickwork and need to be periodically replaced. A well designed chimney cap is a wise investment that can prevent water damage in your home.

Our customers approached us hoping that we could do the brickwork for their remodeling so that it would match the original brickwork on the home. We added a brick retaining wall and brick porch to this 1929 Tutor in Park Hill. The new brickwork on the porch and retaining wall is almost indistinguishable from the original brickwork on the home. We were able to recreate the original look by using traditional bricklaying techniques, reusing discarded bricks from the remodeling, as well as buying recycled brick from Mendoza Used Brick and Demo. We'll be proud looking at these tasteful additions for years to come.

We removed the damaged plaster and restored the beautiful 100 year old stonework. A poorly maintained downspout was sending water into the basement wall, causing the plaster to bubble.
