We are your SUSTAINABILITY A.C.E., providing complete Architectural , Consulting & Engineering Services to green new or existing buildings. Our focus is on incorporating the principles of sustainable design in to every project, no matter the size or scope, on time and within your budget. Our firm was established in 2003 by Architect and LEED Fellow, Jason Kliwinski, with the belief that it shouldn

't have to cost more to build green. After more than a decade of built projects in the Residential, Commercial, Higher Education, K-12, and Hospitality markets, we've proven this to be true. Through our association with the Green Building Center, we also offer a host of specialty consulting services to cater to the unique needs of our clients and the sustainability market such as carbon neutrality master planning & implementation, commissioning, energy modeling and net zero energy/water/waste design. Our partners and staff serve a wide range of individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations. We are experts in the green building field and harmonizing the often conflicting constraints of budget, schedule, operations & maintenance, and aesthetics that impact our clients' sustainability. Our headquarters is located at 67 Bridge Street in picturesque Lambertville, New Jersey along the Delaware River. We also have a satellite office in midtown Manhatten near Penn Station. We are licensed to practice architecture in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Texas but have consulted on projects in Florida, South Carolina, Mexico, British Virgin Islands, the UK, Bahamas and California as well and delivered green educational seminars globally. When working with a client we utilize an integrative project delivery approach that is unique in the industry. This approach fosters a collaborative environment and brings all members of the team, including the contractor, architect, engineers, product suppliers, owner, and specialty consultants, to the table early in the design process and often throughtout its completion.

Make sure your windows are doing more than just providing a view, by getting them checked out by the Green Building Center using Building Envelope Commissioning! Windows can either help or hurt your building envelope, acting as useful tools to capture light and heat or dangerous weak points that cost you on utilities such as heating and cooling. By getting a thermal scan of your building, we can identify any window weak points and nip those issues in the bud, saving you tons of energy especially during the warm summer months. Don’t wait until the next heat wave! Reach out to [email protected] and get the most out of your windows today.

Harness the sun to heat your home! An effective building envelope can do so much to help keep your space at a comfortable temperature. Passive Solar design works with the sun to save you money by heating and cooling your space naturally. This conservatory can benefit highly from direct gain systems for example, in which a space is heated directly by the sun through glass. Thicker walls of this historic house also benefit from indirect gain systems, thermal mass, where the thick walls slowly transfer temperature over time. There is so much benefit to building in harmony with nature, so we design to utilize and protect it while saving you energy and shrinking your utility bill. To find out how your space can work with its environment through techniques like passive solar design, contact [email protected] to learn more!

Get the best defense against the brutal cold and blistering warmth of the seasons with building envelope commissioning! As temperatures surpassing the 80s hit our office this week, we noticed immediately how our building manages to keep at a comfortable 65-70 degrees before we’ve even turned the AC on. That’s all thanks to a sturdy building envelope meant to shield against the elements. Building Envelope commissioning and improvement services can be the difference between spending your summers hopelessly brandishing your AC unit against the sun or relaxing in the shade of a well-insulated space that keeps you cooler naturally. Save yourself money on heating and cooling by contacting [email protected] for commissioning services today!

Staying on theme for this year’s Earth Day, we’re highlighting another project that encapsulates its theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” The Hopatcong School District invested in its students’ futures by opting to go solar, and under the project management of Designs for Life’s architect Jason Kliwinski, the school was able to get 90% of its annual power to come from a 1.5MW PV solar system split between a 1MW field and 500kW on several school rooftops. Celebrate Earth Day with the GBC and D4L by reaching out to us at greenbuildingcenter.com or designs4life.net about how to get solar on your current or future projects!
