It's hot, and your garden is feeling it too.

Now is the time to shift from planting into stewardship. Gardeners who continue harvesting through the heat prepare ahead by implementing systems such as shade cloth, watering systems, mulching heavily, succession planting, manage pests, and drought stress before problems are irreversible.

Ask yourself:

What systems do I have in place to protect my garden from extreme heat?

Have I started my next round of direct-sown seeds for continuous harvests?

Have I researched common pests and drought challenges affecting my specific crops and growing area?

Am I building healthy soil that can retain moisture during the hottest months?

Small actions taken today can make a significant difference in the weeks ahead. Preparation and application help ensure your garden continues to produce even when temperatures rise.

What are you doing to help your garden thrive this summer?

Share your tips, lessons learned, or strategies in the comments.

Let's learn and grow together.

Welcome to my birthday month!

Throughout June, I'll be sharing lessons from the garden about stewardship, faith, wellness, preparation, and harvest. Every plant has something to teach us if we're willing to pay attention.

June is a month of transition in the garden. As temperatures rise, it's time to harvest, mulch, water wisely, and prepare for the summer heat ahead. Follow along for garden updates, growing tips, biblical encouragement, workshop announcements, and opportunities to purchase seedlings, herbs, perrienals, grow bags, wellness products, and seasonal harvests from Simply Grace Gardens.

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2

Topic: Polyculture or Companion Planting Gardening

Polyculture gardening is the practice of growing multiple plants together so they support one another naturally. Instead of planting only one crop, you combine vegetables, herbs, flowers, and medicinal plants in the same space to improve soil health, attract pollinators, reduce pests, and maximize harvests.

For small-space growers and urban garden businesses, polyculture helps every grow bed and grow bag work harder. One space can produce fresh food, tea herbs, medicinal plants, flowers, seedlings, and value-added products by creating multiple streams of income from a small area.

Polyculture gardening supports:

🌿Higher production in small spaces
🌿Reduced pest pressure naturally
🌿Better soil health
🌿Pollinator support
🌿Lower growing costs
🌿Diverse products to sell
🌿More resilient gardens and businesses

Grow smarter, diversify your harvest, and let your garden work together naturally.

What many consider a w**d is actually one of nature’s most nutrient-dense plants called purslane.

Purslane is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, making it a powerful example of how food, wellness, and sustainability often grow right around us. In this video, I share a short video of one of my herb containers and some of the benefits and nutritional value of purslane.

Plants like this remind us that learning to identify, grow, and use what naturally thrives in our environments can help support healthier lifestyles, food access, and greater self-sufficiency.

Simply Grace Gardens is helping families reconnect with the land, discover the healing properties of plants, and learn how to build practical gardening knowledge for everyday life.
