Gabrielle and Laura represented our team, connecting with families, meeting future builders, and giving kids a hands-on look at construction equipment. Events like these are a great reminder of how construction helps build stronger communities — both on and off the jobsite.

Firehouse 4 is more than just a new station—it represents the continued evolution of Coral Gables’ commitment to public safety and service. As the city grows, this station plays a critical role in strengthening response times, expanding coverage, and completing the fire department’s network to better serve the community.

Coral Gables has long prioritized thoughtful planning and infrastructure since its founding in 1925, and Firehouse 4 is a continuation of that vision—ensuring the safety of residents, businesses, and future development across the city. 

West Construction, Inc. is honored to have served as the General Contractor on this important project and to stand alongside the City of Coral Gables and its Fire Department on such a meaningful milestone.

Honored to be part of the construction of Firehouse 4 and to take part in the time-honored “Push-In” ceremony. 🚒✨

This tradition dates back to the 1800s, when firefighters would manually push their horse-drawn apparatus back into the station after returning from a call. Today, it symbolizes teamwork, pride, and the official placement of a new apparatus into service. 🤝🔥

Proud to stand alongside the City of Coral Gables and all those who serve—continuing a legacy built on dedication, service, and community. ❤️🏗️

to one of our favorite waterfront transformations 🌊

Phil Foster Park underwent a full-scale renovation that reimagined the site into a dynamic, multi-use recreational destination—all while maintaining public access throughout construction. A key priority was keeping 50% of the boat ramps and adjacent parking operational at all times, ensuring the boating community experienced zero interruption.

This project placed a strong emphasis on marine infrastructure, including new docks, bulkhead and seawall repairs, and upgraded boat ramps. On land, the park was enhanced with a new lifeguard/restroom facility, equipment storage building, shaded pavilions, a children’s playground, and a variety of site amenities designed for the community to enjoy.

Today, Phil Foster Park stands as a resilient, accessible space that seamlessly blends land and water recreation—built for both function and experience.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Laura Almazan | Assistant Project Manager

We’re proud to highlight Laura Almazan and her first year as an Assistant Project Manager at West Construction.

Over the past year, Laura has played an important role on the Currie Park project, gaining valuable hands-on experience and contributing to the coordination and communication required to keep complex construction projects moving forward. From reviewing plans and coordinating with subcontractors to spending time on-site watching the progress unfold, Laura has embraced every opportunity to learn and grow.

Laura shared that one of the most rewarding parts of her first year has been witnessing the project come to life and being part of the process every step of the way.

She also credits the West Construction team for helping shape her experience:
“I’m very grateful for the project managers, superintendents, and crews who have taken the time to teach me, answer my questions, and share their experience. Their support has helped me grow and gain confidence in my role.”

We are proud to have Laura as part of the West team and look forward to watching her continue to grow as the Currie Park project progresses.
