Final Project of the season, Max's Palace. I couldn't be more proud of this job, especially since I was deemed crazy by my mentor for taking on such an arduous task. lol
I installed 3.25" character grade white oak shorts on top of an existing floor (underneath is a concrete slab). Something that typically should never be done however the engineered floor was only 3/8" thick and there were no signs of water damage or extra moisture when tested. So I left the existing floor and used it as a strong foundation/ v***r barrier. I abraded the surface of the existing floor then rolled on a Bona underlayment. Glued the floor down section by section, trowel filled, sealed and applied 2 coats of Loba 2k Supra AT ceramic water base finish.
In the back of the house we removed carpet from one bedroom and an engineered floor from the rest. The carpeted bedroom floor had to be built up to meet the height of the engineered floor in order to install the same short white oak. I made the frame work around the tile and the turn piece on the staircase from an 2- 8' long 1" thick pieces of white oak I found at a nearby mill. Installed flush mount vents.
Next summer I hope to help my client remove the staircase ledge and replace it with a piece of live edge, white oak. Got to use all my knowledge of hard wood and put my heart and soul into this, it couldn't have turned out better. Big Thank You to TC Floors for allowing me to use some of their equipment to turn this dream into reality!

"I was getting a lot of calls for flooring issues other than wood, so I signed up for courses and certifications for resilient flooring and ceramic tile, and this, of course, led to a lot of studies related to these products. Many of you won’t be surprised that calls, texts and emails about vinyl flooring issues began coming in like a tsunami. This “revolutionary” product is advertised in large print as waterproof, extremely durable, stable and so easy to install that any handyperson can do it. Let’s delve into the fine print and how some of these products work in the real world ..." Read about Bob Goldstein's experience as he delved into the world of failed LVP ➡ https://bit.ly/on23ftf

Carmine’s debacle: First “floor guy” came in and installed a new floor that was supposed to match the existing one, and ended up walking off the job because he couldn’t figure out how to integrate the two floors. Tony and I saved the day! We resecured the old loose floor with 1/2” plugs and created a transition piece to join the old and new rooms. Special Walnut, 3 coats of water base finish and a buff and coat for the old floors to bring it all together. Very proud of this one!

Hi everyone! Its been awhile since we have posted anything. Over the last few weeks we've come across a reoccurring issue in regard to hardwood floor stain. If it doesn't say on the container its designated specifically for hardwood floors then its probably designed for things like wooden furniture, etc. There is a reason Sherwin-Williams is the parent company to both Minwax (DIY grade products found in local hardware stores) and Duraseal (commercial grade products found only in Professional hardwood floor distributors). Do yourself and the future of your floors a huge favor and consult a hardwood flooring specialist before picking what stain to apply to your floors. You'll save a lot of time, money and headache. A good flooring specialist will also be able to mix stain colors to craft a particular color you might not see on a stain chart. (At least Tony and I can). Moral of the story... don't use regular wood stain on your hardwood floors, use stain designated for hardwood floors. Any questions, please feel free to give either Tony or myself a call. We would love to be of assistance! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, Cheers!! Andy & Tony
