My neighbor The Lambic Basket is an incredible weaver and he knows his lambic beers. He challenged me to get artistic and come up with an original design for the lambic enthusiasts.
Lambics are served at a tilt- keeping the bottle as horizontal as possible while tipping the cork just high enough to open without spilling.
I went with box joints. It took more than a few prototypes to figure out the right interplay of joint spacing, angle of cut, angle of bottle tip, height of bottle neck, height of handle… The fireplace has been burning bright with scraps from this seemingly diminutive project.
Ash, maple, poplar, and hickory are from the backyards of mine and Embere’s families in Indiana and Iowa.
The bent-lamination handles are a project unto themselves. I bent plies of

There’s , and then there’s . This one personifies it’s owner. Anna has been collecting beautiful agate slices and dreamt up a table that could show them off. The reclaimed wood comes from an elk trap near Pinedale WY, where Anna spends a lot of her time and energy doing wildlife research.
I love how the epoxy brings out the color in the stones and the wood.

I’m thankful for amazing clients that tell me they need a piece, in a space, and then give me 100% artistic freedom to create. Thank you for trusting my artistry and hard work!
I’m also thankful for the ash trees I’m able to gather from a special horse pasture in central Indiana. I count 68 years in this tree that died ~5 years ago.

Twin end tables for my favorite Laramie customers. Acacia, diamond willow, and lots of epoxy.
My favorite material to work with is diamond willow. Look closely and you can see some incredible birdseye figure in a couple of the legs.

Live-edge black walnut bar top and drop counter. Lots of epoxy work to solidify the slabs- we chose slabs with character, which also gets you weak spots and defects. Days spent inlaying ties in the undersides to prevent any further splitting. In case you’re questioning that massive miter joint- it’s not a permanently glued joint. Countertop drawbolts are keeping it snug, while biscuits are keeping it aligned. Those brackets are recessed, and will eventually get covered when the homeowners put up stone or tile. Looks like a nice place to have a drink!

Live-edge walnut bar tops. Lots of planning and heavy lifting (literally and figuratively) condensed into a 2 minute video. A huge thank you to my amazing customers! Approach me with the words “ambitious, unique, artistic” and you’ll have me hooked.

Recently completed and delivered: 7’ bench in hard maple, with a butcher block seat. Custom built to complement their new dining room table (not mine). Not a bad job on matching that crazy dark stain, too!
