The end of an era.....
Soledad Canyon Earth Builders built our first home in 1983. By 1985 we were officially in business. In the 30+ years since that first home we have built over 75 rammed earth homes and many more frame/stucco homes. I am proud to announce that we will be closing our business by the middle of this year-2017. Why am I proud, you ask? Yes, it will be a sad day, a process that will bring a lot of memories to the forefront, and overall a hard process. But most of all, I am proud. I am proud to have created homes. I am proud of the struggles Mario went through in deciding to build rammed earth homes to begin with. I am proud that we decided to build the business of creating homes. I am proud that for the last 8 years that Max, Melissa, and I continued building homes. I am proud of being part of an industry that creates jobs, builds the economy and creates places that we call home. It is very satisfying to start with a raw piece of land and end up with a home that people move into and create a life…they create memories. There are many parts of building a home that are really hard, but it makes the end product much more meaningful. So many people have trusted us over the years to take their hard-earned money and use it to create their home. Most people that we have built for still live in their home. I have so much to be thankful for–the clients who have turned into great friends, the many friends I have made who also build homes, all the great people who work in our industry–our subcontractors and suppliers, all those in the Las Cruces Home Builders Association and the New Mexico Home Builders Association. A big thank you to everyone who has touched our lives through Soledad Canyon Earth Builders.
If you are interested in having a rammed earth home we want you to know that a fellow builder has acquired all our equipment for building rammed earth homes. We encourage you to contact him. Judd Singer, Villa Custom Homes. www.villacustomhomes.com
His website does not yet reflect that he will build rammed earth homes, but it will be updated in the near future.
