Quality starts with what’s behind the finish materials.

We just wrapped up this outdoor kitchen project featuring concrete foundations, a fully welded 2” x 2” steel frame, heavy granite countertops, stacked stone veneer, a built-in BBQ, and a custom entertainment wall finished with GTO aluminum cladding that gives the look of real wood without the maintenance.

The finished product looks great, but it’s the structure underneath that determines how well it performs years from now.

There’s something satisfying about seeing the final details come together.

A few weeks ago this project was all structure. Today the finishing touches are going in and the vision is becoming reality.

Our scope on this project was the custom cantilever patio cover—designed to create a large shaded outdoor living area while keeping the space open, clean, and architectural.

One of the goals here wasn’t to make the structure the loudest feature—it was to make it feel like it almost disappears while creating a huge amount of usable shade.

Big credit to our general contractor partner on this project for bringing the outdoor kitchen, media wall, stacked stone finishes, and porcelain paver installation to life and tying everything together.

We love seeing multiple trades and specialists come together to create outdoor spaces that feel seamless.

When the Las Vegas summer starts pushing 115°–120°, a properly engineered shade sail can completely transform the way a pool and backyard feel.

This custom commercial-grade shade sail system was designed specifically for large-span coverage over the swimming pool — creating a massive shaded area that helps reduce direct sun exposure while making the space dramatically more comfortable during peak summer heat.

Unlike traditional patio covers, shade sails allow for extremely large open spans and cleaner sight lines without bulky framing blocking the backyard view. This installation spans roughly 40 feet across the pool area, creating broad shade coverage that simply isn’t practical with many conventional patio cover systems.

We built this system using heavy-duty 6” x 6” steel posts with 1/4” thick steel walls, all embedded into oversized concrete footings approximately 4 to 5 feet in size for maximum structural integrity and long-term stability in high-wind conditions.

This patio cover didn’t fail because of one issue… it failed because the entire system wasn’t engineered to perform under real-world conditions.

Take a closer look and you’ll see the details—
deformed beams, minimal fasteners, and connection points that simply weren’t designed to handle structural loads.

In several areas, there were only about three screws holding critical connections together… where a properly engineered system would typically require six to eight. That difference matters. It directly impacts how loads are transferred, especially under wind stress.

Once those connections began to fail, the structure lost its integrity—and the result speaks for itself.

This isn’t one of our builds. But it’s a clear example of why design, engineering, and construction all need to work together from the beginning.
