It’s never easy to rip out one of our floors—and that’s by design.
With a proper moisture barrier and dust-consolidating primer in place, everything comes out in pieces. No shortcuts, no failures—just a system that was built to perform and last.
We’re now taking this project to the next level with a custom hearth extension, running to the opposite wall and cleanly integrating just under the wine refrigerator.
If your floor comes out easy… it probably wasn’t built right in the first place. We build them to last.

That’s gym #2 in the books, with the last one coming next week. We’re still going full throttle—tomorrow we jump onto the tower project. The workload is crazy right now, but we’re keeping up.

This type of work requires a great deal of patience and precision, as every decision must be made carefully. You need a deep understanding of your products and systems to deliver the best possible outcome for your client and ensure a flawless finished floor.

In complex situations—such as water damage in a high-rise tower—you must be able to assess and respond to multiple challenges. That includes moisture testing, determining the proper repair approach, and applying moisture mitigation if needed. From there, the process may involve installing a sound underlayment, reinforcing with 3D fiberglass mesh, and self-leveling the floor up to 1½ inches before the final flooring installation can even begin.

All of this work is often performed in tight, limited spaces, which adds another layer of difficulty. It’s a detailed, step-by-step process that requires adaptability, as each phase depends on the conditions you uncover along the way.

Constructed in 1938, this project requires historically accurate restoration methods. We will be sourcing reclaimed wood flooring from homes built during the same era to maintain species consistency, grain characteristics, and milling profiles true to the original installation. Each board will be carefully integrated, repaired, and refinished to preserve structural integrity and visual continuity. This restoration is a detailed, labor-intensive process focused on authenticity and long-term performance.
