Traveling and going away for a few weeks?! Here are 5 tips to do before you leave and do yourself a HUGE favor.

* Turn off water at the shut off valve in garage. This way the house water is off but sprinklers and drips still water your landscape.
* Make sure downspouts from your roof gutters are AWAY from your home or business not towards the building.
* Make sure you do roof inspections annually to check for concerns that may cause leaks while you are away.
* Have AC serviced at the beginning of each cooling season and change air filters to avoid problems.
*Be sure that water heaters/softeners and second floor washing machines have a drip pan underneath them and are properly plumbed to the exterior of your home or business to avoid floods.

Summer is here and after the pandemic people are starting to go out of town and getting away from home after being stuck at home for a long time. However, it is as important to stopped and think about how the warm weather can affect our pluming and cause leaks when we least expected.

Since Nevada is prone to hot weather it is important to keep an eye out for hot weather plumbing issues.

These are the most common hot weather plumbing issues:

Leaky or bursting pipes. Yes, hot weather can cause pipes to burst, too, though not as commonly as freezing temperatures. Hot weather causes the pipes to expand, and if they are aging or previously stressed, they may spring leaks. In addition, nearby plants and trees begin spreading their roots in the warmer weather, and sometimes these roots can pe*****te the pipes.

Low water pressure. If hot weather results in leaky pipes, especially multiple leaks, you may begin experiencing lower water pressure as a result.

More clogged drains. While not directly related to the temperature, we often see more clogged drains in the summertime, mainly due to increased use of the toilets (for example, the kids being home on summer break and/or gatherings with family and friends).
