Did this job today, of a older American standard 2 part cartridge. Customer stated that the hot side barley came out and it was scolding. I replaced the old cartridge with a new one. Even cleaned out the valve body best I could. When I turned on water, the hot water came on perfectly fine for like a split second. Well then it decided to thud real loud and the flow of hot water trickled. I knew right then it for sure had a built in anti scolding feature. So I looked at water tank and noticed water temps was set to high. I turned it down and turned on faucets to bleed that hot water out. Then I took cartridge out tapped it some to make sure it was not stuck shut. After putting it back in, it ran like a dream!

I really hate this, it seems in this area where I mostly work out off I been seeing more of this sdr 35 garbich pipe. I guess whatever is cheapest and easiest. This pipe is so thin that it snapped on me trying to cut it below the 3×4 sdr 35 fitting. So I used the cement as my friend and guide. I cut along the cement, for that clean cut. Next I dug around that pipe and put the 4" sdr 35 to 3" schedule 40. The 4" part got cemented in. To be honest its a better casing for it any ways. Finally cut out the pvc coupling that was glued on copper, which does not work. I coupled the pipes together with a fernco. All in schd 40. 😮‍💨
