As a precautionary measure in anticipation of the impending freezing weather, please take note of the following essential steps to protect your property's plumbing system.

Insulate Exposed Pipes: Wrap pipes in unheated areas like basements, attics, crawl spaces, and garages with insulation sleeves, foam, or even old towels or newspapers to prevent freezing.

Keep Interior Doors Open: Open cabinet doors under sinks in kitchens and bathrooms to allow warmer indoor air to circulate around the pipes located in exterior walls and mitigate the risk of freezing.

Maintain Consistent Heat: Set your thermostat to a consistent temperature, at least 55°F (13°C), even when you are away from home, to maintain a warm ambient temperature around the pipes.

Allow Faucets to Drip: During severe cold, let a small, steady trickle of cold water run from faucets, especially those on an exterior wall, as moving water is less likely to freeze and the drip helps relieve pressure buildup, preventing a burst if ice forms.

Disconnect Outdoor Hoses: Drain and disconnect all garden hoses and store them indoors; if possible, shut off the water supply to outdoor spigots using an interior valve.

In Case of a Frozen Pipe
Know Your Main Shut-Off Valve: Ensure that all household members are aware of the location of the main water shut-off valve and how to turn it off in case a pipe bursts.

Keep Faucet Open: Keep the affected faucet open as you thaw the pipe; running water will help melt the ice and relieve pressure.
