What they may not know is that we’re apparently in the turtle rescue business too. 🐢

This is just one of several turtles the boys have stopped to save this year. If they see one trying to cross the road, they’re pulling over. If they find one stuck, they’re helping it out. No turtle left behind around here.

Beautifying landscapes is what we do for a living, but taking care of our community including the little guys with shells is just part of who we are.

Today’s landscaping tip: Always check the road for turtles. They don’t move very fast, but they sure know how to stop traffic around here!

WHY THE FOUNDATION MATTERS

Lately, my team and I have been rebuilding flower beds that failed long before they should have especially around newer homes.

The truth is, your house has a foundation because the ground moves. Your flower bed needs a proper foundation for the same reason.

Unfortunately, many flower beds are built with little more than brick and mortar sitting on soil. Over time, shifting ground can cause cracking, sinking, separation, and costly repairs.

Before getting a flowerbed buoy, ask these questions:

• Is there a concrete foundation beneath the flower bed?
• Is rebar being installed to reinforce the foundation?
• How deep and wide is the footing?
• How will the flower bed handle soil movement over time?
• Is drainage being considered during construction?
• What type of warranty is provided on the work?
