That giant spider sprinting across your living room? There’s a good chance it’s a wolf spider.

Wolf spiders are common throughout Missouri and Kansas and unlike many spiders, they don’t build webs to catch their meals.

They hunt.

Wolf spiders actively roam around searching for prey, which also means they can accidentally wander into our homes through gaps around:

🚪 Doors and garage doors
🏠 Foundations and siding
🪟 Windows
🔧 Utility penetrations and other openings

And here’s where things get REALLY interesting…

Female wolf spiders carry their egg sacs attached to their spinnerets. After the spiderlings hatch, they climb onto mom’s abdomen and ride around on her back. 😳

So yes, that spider you saw covered in dozens of tiny spiders?

You probably weren’t imagining things. 😂

Wolf spiders aren’t looking to move into your house and start a family but if you’re regularly finding them indoors, it may be time to figure out how they’re getting inside.

Cool spider? Absolutely.

Cool spider running across the floor while you’re watching TV?

Absolutely not. 😂🕷️

🐌 Happy Friday!

Gary the Snail is absolutely RACING into the weekend… at a blistering snail’s pace. 😂💨

Fun snail fact: Snails move using a muscular “foot,” gliding over a layer of mucus that helps reduce friction and protects their body as they crawl.

So whether you’re sprinting into the weekend or moving at Gary speed…

Have a great Friday from the Wizards of Pest Control! 🧙‍♂️🐌

🏠 Does your pest control company need to spray inside your home every single visit?

For many common household pests, no.

And that surprises a lot of homeowners.

Great pest control isn’t about applying as much product as possible. It’s about understanding where pests are living, how they’re getting in, and where treatment will have the greatest impact.

For many pests, that means focusing heavily on the exterior:

🐜 Targeting pest activity around the structure
🔍 Identifying potential entry points
🕷️ Treating common harborage areas
🚪 Creating a defensive strategy before pests make it inside

Does that mean we never treat indoors?

Absolutely not.

When there’s an active problem inside or an interior treatment makes sense, we treat where necessary.

But applying products throughout your home just because “that’s what we always do” isn’t our philosophy.

The goal isn’t to treat everywhere.

🎯 The goal is to treat where it actually matters.

That’s smarter pest management.

That’s how The Wizards of Pest Control do it. 🪄

🦟 What if we told you mosquitoes can actually help us control… mosquitoes?

That’s one of the coolest things about the In2Care Mosquito Station.

Instead of relying solely on traditional mosquito treatments, In2Care targets mosquitoes in a completely different way.

A mosquito enters the station, picks up the treatment, and transfers it to nearby breeding sites, helping control larvae developing in the water.

Meanwhile, the station also targets the adult mosquitoes that visit it.

So we’re not just going after the mosquitoes flying around your backyard today.

We’re targeting the next generation too. 🦟🚫

Basically, ZipZap has figured out how to put mosquitoes on the payroll.

They’re terrible employees…

but at least they work for free. 😂

Want fewer mosquitoes crashing your backyard plans?

WE MAKE WASPS DISAPPEAR! 🪄🫯

It’s August in Kansas City… and the paper wasps are feeling VERY established.

That small umbrella-shaped nest that started with a single queen in spring?
By late summer, a successful colony can have dozens of wasps—and a lot more activity around your home.

📍 Where they build nests:

✅ Under eaves
✅ Beneath decks & railings
✅ Around porches
✅ Any other protected, sheltered areas

⚠️ Why you’re seeing more of them:

Paper wasps are beneficial predators. They help control other insects.
But by August, colonies are at peak size… which means more wasps + more encounters with people.

And if the nest is near a doorway, deck, or walkway?

That’s when “beneficial insect” turns into “absolutely not near my front door.” 😂

🪄 ZipZap’s Wasp Service:

We don’t just “spray and hope.”

We:
✔ Locate active nests
✔ Treat them effectively
✔ Remove nests when accessible
✔ Help reduce ongoing wasp activity around your home

Enjoy the rest of your summer.
We’ll handle the angry neighbors.

Proudly protecting Kansas City families since 1993! ❤️

🐛 Those little bags hanging from your trees could be bagworms!

Bagworms are caterpillars that build protective bags from silk and pieces of the plants they feed on. Heavy infestations can defoliate and seriously damage trees and shrubs, especially evergreens.

If you only find a few, the bags can be hand-picked and destroyed. Larger infestations may require treatment by a qualified tree or landscape professional.

🌳 ZipZap does not provide bagworm treatments, but we recommend contacting a reputable tree care, arborist, or landscape professional who can evaluate your plants and recommend the appropriate treatment.

The earlier they’re addressed, the better. Control is generally most effective when the caterpillars are young and small.

Here’s something most pest control companies probably won’t tell you… 👀

Sometimes you DON’T need us.

DIY pest control can absolutely work.

The problem usually isn’t DIY itself; it’s treating the wrong pest, using the wrong product, or killing what you see without ever finding the source.

That’s the difference between killing a bug and solving a pest problem.

We don’t believe professional pest control should mean convincing you that only we can fix everything.

Sometimes you need a professional.

Sometimes you just need the right advice.

And we’re happy to tell you which one it is. 🪄

That’s how pest control should be.

Hot take: “You can’t get rid of spiders” is a cop-out.

We hear it all the time:

“My last pest control company told me there’s really nothing you can do about spiders.”

We don’t buy that.

There’s a BIG difference between saying “we can’t guarantee you’ll never see another spider” and saying “we can’t solve your spider problem.”

The right products matter.
The right treatment methods matter.
Web and egg-sac removal matters.
Controlling the bugs spiders are feeding on matters.

If you’re paying for pest control and still knocking down fresh webs every week, you shouldn’t be told to just live with it.

Spiders aren’t impossible to control. They just require more than treating around the house and hoping for the best. 🕷️

Have you ever been told by a pest control company that spiders “can’t really be controlled”? 👇
