Performing good turf maintenance practices benefits us in many ways. A good covering of grass helps protect soil from erosion by holding it together through a complex network of roots. A good stand of grass slows the flow of water, giving it time to be absorbed and helping to recharge the water table. It also shades the soil and slows evaporation.

Grass is also one of the major producers of new soil. Your lawn is continuously making topsoil by developing, dying off, decomposing and redeveloping. All of this adds to the organic matter in the soil. By leaving clippings on the lawn and allowing them to decay naturally, you return a significant amount of the nutrients that help it grow and avoid possible pollution of the ground water caused by excessive applications of chemical fertilizers.

I prefer to MULCH the lawn it helps give the grass nitrogen but also creates top soil after it breaks down creating a better eco system for your lawn to have a deeper green and great growth.
