👇Fun Facts
🌍 1. Earth isn’t a perfect sphere
It’s actually an oblate spheroid—slightly squished at the poles and wider at the equator because of its rotation.
🌊 2. Most of Earth is water
About 71% of Earth’s surface is covered in water, but only around 2.5% is fresh water—and most of that is locked in ice!
🧲 3. Earth has a protective magnetic shield
The planet’s magnetic field acts like an invisible force field, protecting us from harmful solar radiation and cosmic particles.
🌬️ 4. Our atmosphere is perfectly balanced (for us)
Earth’s atmosphere is about 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen, making it ideal for life as we know it.
🔥 5. The core is hotter than the sun’s surface
Earth’s inner core can reach temperatures of around 9,000–10,000°F (5,000–5,500°C)—that’s hotter than the surface of the Sun!
🌱 6. Earth is the only known planet with life
So far, Earth is the only place in the universe where life is confirmed to exist.
🌕 7. The Moon helps stabilize Earth
Our Moon keeps Earth’s tilt steady, which helps maintain stable seasons and climate.
🌋 8. Earth is still changing constantly
Through plate tectonics, continents slowly move, mountains rise, and earthquakes reshape the planet.
🌈 9. You can sometimes see Earth’s shadow
At sunrise or sunset, a dark band on the horizon opposite the sun is actually Earth’s shadow on the atmosphere.
🚀 10. Earth moves fast—really fast
* Rotates at about 1,000 mph (1,600 km/h)
* Orbits the Sun at about 67,000 mph (107,000 km/h)
