A little reminder for anyone who needs it today: it is never too late to start. πŸ’›

We tend to think building a company is a young person's game. It isn't β€” and that's true in every industry. Harvard researchers looked at 2.7 million founders and found the average age of a successful founder is actually 45, and a 50-year-old is twice as likely to succeed as someone half their age. All that life experience? It's an advantage.
Look at who built what, and when:

Vera Wang designed her first dress at 40.
Mary Kay Ash started her company at 45.
Arianna Huffington launched HuffPost in her mid-50s.

And nearly 70% of women business owners today are between 44 and 59.
"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."

So if there's something you've been dreaming about β€” a business, a comeback, a brand-new chapter β€” consider this your sign. Start where you are, with what you have.

Drop a πŸ™Œ below if you're starting something new this year.

Growth is hard. Learning is the gift. πŸ’›
A year and change into building Joyful Cabinet here in Austin, I've 4x'd my learning β€” as an owner, as an operator, and most importantly as a service provider in someone else's home.
Some days I feel DUMB. The kind of dumb where you ask a question you didn't know you had to know to even ask. Where Tuesday's meeting reveals a Friday lesson you should have learned in February. It's humbling.

And then I show up Wednesday a little smarter than I was Tuesday.
That's the whole trade of year two. You don't get to stop being a beginner. You just get to be a more capable one. It's scary AND satisfying β€” both at the exact same time. And honestly? That paradox is what keeps me getting back in the van and walking back into one more kitchen.

To everyone who's been part of this journey β€” clients who let us into your homes, my team who shows up every day, suppliers who answer my late-night calls, friends and family who pick up when I need to think out loud, the realtors who keep introducing us to new homeowners β€” thank you. πŸ’›
You've made the hard parts learnable. The scary parts survivable. The satisfying parts real.
Year three is coming. Bring it. πŸ₯‚

Your kitchen should be the simplest room in your house. πŸ’›
Mornings should flow. Coffee should find you. The drawer you need should open before you finish reaching for it. Everything in its place. Everything in reach.
That's what a refreshed kitchen actually does. Not a renovation. A refresh.

This Austin-area kitchen β€” Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore (SW 7069) on every cabinet, new black bar pulls, and pull-out drawers added inside the lower cabinets so nothing lives in the back of a corner cabinet anymore.
Same granite. Same backsplash. Same appliances. Same floor. Three upgrades you actually feel every morning:
🎨 Color β€” Iron Ore brings depth and calm; the kitchen reads ten years younger overnight.
πŸ”© Hardware β€” new pulls in the right finish carry half the transformation on their own.
πŸ› οΈ Function β€” pull-out drawers turn deep cabinets into real usable storage. This is the upgrade homeowners thank us for the most.

Take control of your kitchen. Just say yes to Joyful β€” free consultation, we'll come walk it with you.

A Salado kitchen, refreshed. 🌿 Same footprint. Same granite. Same Hill Country stone arch over the cooktop (that's the bones of the home β€” not something to demo). Same floors. Same appliances.

What changed? The cabinet color.

Orange oak became crisp white on the perimeter. The dated island went deep charcoal with new brass-and-black hardware. The whole kitchen reads ten years younger β€” without us touching a single counter, backsplash, or appliance.

That's what cabinet repainting actually does. It gives you the kitchen you've been picturing without the renovation that takes you out of your house for three months. No demo. No displaced family. No surprises behind a wall.

A few things this project shows off well:
🎨 Two-tone treatment β€” white uppers + dark island is one of the most flexible, designer-friendly looks we do. It elevates the original architecture instead of fighting it.
πŸ”© Hardware is half the transformation β€” the right pulls in the right finish carry way more weight than people realize.
🏑 We work around your materials β€” granite, stone, flooring, plumbing, appliances all stay. The cabinets work around what's already great.
Salado, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, North Austin β€” we travel for the right project, and we work any kitchen size.

Ready for your summer refresh? πŸ₯‚

Who do you want in your home? πŸ’›
The estimator who walked through once, took a measurement, and you never saw again? Or the founder who leads the team, does the work, and answers every call or text β€” at 7 AM and 9 PM?

I started Joyful Cabinet after years of renovating my own homes, redesigning kitchens, and watching contractor after contractor treat my project like one of fifty. No one cared as much about the outcome as I did. Not even close.
That was the whole problem. And it became the whole brief.

Now, when you hire Joyful Cabinet, you get a real partner on the job β€” me. And my team. I'm there. I'm walking your kitchen with you. I'm picking up the phone. I'm in the final touch-up. And I'm as invested in the outcome as you are, because year one taught me there's no other way to do this right.
That's the promise. End of. πŸ–Œ

When your client matches her new kitchen. πŸ’›
and β€” Sherwin-Williams paint, our finish, her color confidence, and a kitchen that finally looks the way she'd been picturing it for years.
This is everything.
I love standing there with our team after the last touch-up, taking it in β€” the right colors, the right detail, the right process. The kind of stillness that only shows up on a reveal day.
A great kitchen is the sum of three things:
βœ“ The right color choice
βœ“ The right detail (hardware, hinges, hand-feel)
βœ“ The right process β€” Prep, Prime, Paint, Perfect
When all three line up, you get this. 🌈 JOY. Do you want it in your kitchen?

We're booking summer projects now β€” at roughly 1/7th the cost of new cabinets. Same footprint, fresh face, 7-9 business days, no demo, no displaced family.

"Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen." β€” BrenΓ© Brown πŸ’›
Selling work as an entrepreneur is a test of conviction. Every time.

I believe in what Joyful Cabinet delivers. My team believes. πŸ–ŒοΈ The clients who are right now pouring morning coffee at an island they no longer want to escape β€” they believe. 😊

And then I walk into a home, and the homeowner lets me know I'm being price-checked against a typical painter, a local handyman, or "the guy who did my brother's cabinets last spring." And I'd be lying if I said it didn't tug at my conviction for a beat.
Because in that moment, they don't believe. 🎨

But, how could I expect them to?
We've never worked together. They haven't seen the difference between our four-step process and a typical spray-and-pray. They haven't met my team and watched the care they take with your floors, your countertops, the photo on your fridge that never gets moved. They don't know the finish is going to hold for a decade, not six months.
They will. But not yet.

So I cannot waiver. I cannot break. I cannot quote down to chase a job that isn't ours. πŸ–ŒοΈ
Our work stands the test of time. The experience stands taller. And when those same homeowners walk back into their kitchen on day nine β€” the conviction is no longer mine to carry. It's theirs. πŸ’›
End of.

A little Friday reflection on what really makes a business. πŸ’›
For us, it's simple: it's not enough for our clients to be satisfied. It's not even enough for them to be happy. We believe they have to be joyful β€” or we haven't done our job.

I knew early on that the only way a service business grows in a city as competitive as Austin is to leave a real mark on the people we serve. To walk into someone's home and have them walk away genuinely joyful about both the kitchen and the experience.
But here's the part that still surprises me. Nearly every time, as our team hangs that final door or makes the last touch-up, I realize the client has left a mark on me. I've learned something. I've heard a piece of their story. I've drunk their coffee at their table and, for a little while, stepped into their world. It's so special.

So to every single client who has trusted us with the heart of their home β€” thank you. You give our team joy, and you hand it right back to us. That's the real business. ✨
