When you’re a one man show, you learn to get creative! I use a box blade with a skid steer plate on it, then there’s a mount I fabricated for my transit receiver. This allows me to keep grade while on the machine. GPS grade systems can range anywhere from a $10,000-$40,000 for an aftermarket package for a skid steer. This allowed me to get similar results for a fraction of the cost. This allowed me to grade out a 30x45 pad without leaving the seat of the machine. After its graded I got it packed in with the machine. I always take videos of my pads at the time of completion to ensure they are right before I load up. Notice the black tape over my transit receiver, this helps me dial my “room for error” down from the full 4” range to roughly 1-2”. It’s pretty good for a poor man’s GPS system!

Bamboo-Be-Gone

Cleaned up this “little” bamboo grove when I was at another job. The stalks were about 30-40ft tall, and I dug them by the roots. Then moved the pile about 250ft to the back of their woods. I always want to give a realistic expectation in a job, so I told the customer it will come back if you don’t tend to it, but if you tend to the spot you’ll eventually kill it off. But it will take a lot of work and maintenance. It cleaned up good though! Get with me for any of your land clearing needs! Make sure you scroll to see the after pictures! Been busy lately! Got the opportunity to sow and straw a yard for a client, tackle some erosion beside of his shop, spread some gravel, and even redid his riprap ditch and spread slag ontop of his driveway. This job was a long one for sure! Took about 5 days, 35 tons of 2-4” rock, 22 tons of crusher run, 75 tons of slag, 110 tons of topsoil, 100ft of fabric, 100lbs of seed, 100lbs of fertilize, 4 straw mats, and over 60 bales of straw! But we got it looking good! Even caught some work for the neighbors while I was here. I will post about that job in a few days!
