This 1948 ad highlights the No. 3 Hawaiian Wiggler, a unique weedless spoon designed by Fred Arbogast — a true innovator in early bass fishing. Built specifically for fishing heavy cover like lily pads and weeds, this lure was made to go where others couldn’t, slipping through vegetation while still triggering aggressive strikes. 🎯

What made the Hawaiian Wiggler special was the addition of the Hula Skirt, a rubber attachment developed in the late 1930s that gave the bait a lifelike “squirming” action while helping conceal the hook. This simple but groundbreaking idea helped lay the foundation for modern jigs and spinnerbaits we still use today. 🔥
