The crew is making steady progress at the Concord, NH wastewater plant. While the old truck bay concrete floor is being demolished and replaced, the operators must maintain the ability to fill trucks in order to dispose of the waste to landfills. In collaboration with NEEM the general contractor, the team created a temporary conveyor system to allow trucks to be filled outside of the truck bay. PES created coordination drawings and a temporary control system integrated into the existing automation controls to achieve conveyor functionality during construction.

An annual inspection of one of our customer’s 10-ton bridge crane revealed excessive wear on the bridge end truck wheels and the runway crane rails. Diagnostics showed that the distance between the rails did not match the bridge wheel span. Additionally, the rails did not meet CMAA standards where straightness and positioning over the runway girder webs was concerned. PES developed a detailed correction plan, which involved a crew of six, working staggered shifts to reduce downtime. The East runway rail was repositioned on the girders to be within CMAA standards. The East side was then used as a guide to reposition the West side runway girders, followed by the West rail system. The mechanical connections on the structural steel had to be removed, girders relocated, new holes drilled or slotted and all hardware reinstalled. The rail system itself utilized J-bolt hardware allowing lateral adjustment as it was fastened in place.
Our crew met this challenge head on, completing the repair in less than three days. Our customer now has a bridge crane that runs smoothly the length of the system with no binding, squealing or unnecessary wear.
