🌞 Beat the Heat, Hudson Valley! 🏠❄️
It’s going to be extremely hot today, and we want to help you stay safe and comfortable at home. Here are a few quick tips from your friends at DS Home Services to keep the heat outside where it belongs:
🔹 Keep blinds and curtains closed – Especially on south and west-facing windows. Blocking direct sunlight can lower indoor temps by several degrees.
🔹 Use fans wisely – Ceiling fans should spin counterclockwise to create a cooling breeze.
🔹 Limit oven and stove use – Opt for cold meals or grill outside if you can.
🔹 Shut doors to unused rooms – This keeps the cool air where you need it most.
🔹 Set your thermostat wisely – 75–78°F is efficient and still comfortable. Don’t overwork your AC!
🔹 Check your filters – A dirty filter makes your system work harder and less effectively.
💧 And of course, hydrate and check on neighbors – especially the elderly or anyone without air conditioning.
