JD Build is growing, and we’re adding subcontractors to our team.

We stay busy with everything from bathroom remodels to full kitchens and basement finishes across the KC metro. We’re looking for reliable trade partners who want consistent work, including the smaller bathroom jobs. If you’re the kind of sub who shows up and commits whether the job is big or small, we want to talk.

Plumber: remodel rough-in and finish, ongoing across multiple projects

Cabinet builder/installer: custom vanities through full kitchens

Requirements: current insurance, W-9, licensed where your trade requires it, and able to communicate clearly with our team and homeowners.

"Our dining room is too dark."

So we put a window where there wasn't one.💪🏻

Adding a window isn't cutting a hole in the wall. That wall is holding up your house. Here's what it took:

→ Sheetrock off, and existing studs removed
→ Electrical rerouted out of the way
→ A structural header installed to carry the load the studs used to carry
→ New window set, flashed, and sealed from the outside
→ Interior rebuilt: drywall, trim, and paint to match

We set it as high as the soffit outside would allow. Up there, it works almost like a skylight. Light comes in over the top of the room instead of glaring across the table.
Same dining room. Completely different feel. The client's happy, and we're proud of this one!

Most tray ceilings are just a painted box. This one got a little more.
Tongue-and-groove car siding, stained warm, set inside the tray. One day of work, and the room has a focal point it never had before.

The trick is in the details nobody notices until they're wrong:

→ Even gaps, no hammer marks, nails hidden in the tongue

→ Clean cuts where the wood meets the painted sides of the tray

→ Light box located and cut in so the fixture lands dead center

It's a small project. It's also the first thing everyone will look at when they walk in.

This is what was hiding under a shower window.

You can't see it until the window comes out. The sill was black and soft: years of water getting past the window and sitting in the framing with nowhere to go.

Drop a new window into this opening and it looks great for a few years. Then it fails again, and takes more of the wall with it.

So before anything new goes in:

→ Rotted wood gets cut out, back to solid framing
→ The sill gets rebuilt
→ The opening gets flashed and sealed before the window ever touches it
→ Then the window goes in, and we seal it with heavy duty quad adhesive and window flashing tape

Nobody sees that part once the trim is back on. It's also the part that decides whether you're doing this again in 10 years, or less.

Before, this bathroom just didn't work for them. Everything felt crammed, the layout fought against how they actually lived in the space. So we opened it up. Moved the toilet, moved the shower, and rebuilt it around how they actually use it every day. Now it's back together and it's theirs again. This is what we do: we don't just remodel bathrooms, we fix the parts of your home that never made sense. 🛁✨
