The Irrigation Technician is responsible for mapping out irrigation areas, digging trenches, installing equipment, testing the system, and conducting regular maintenance checks. A top-level Irrigation Technician can expertly install any sized irrigation system to fit the needs of the client.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
Operates power equipment, heavy machinery, and hand tools to install, maintain and repair irrigation systems and related components including irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, control panels, valves, pumps, etc.
Checks system for proper operation and timing.
May participate in the design or modification of new or existing systems.
Performs seasonal maintenance such as system charging and draining.
Maintains inventory of related parts and supplies.
May lead workers on irrigation projects and work on other grounds related assignments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Must be able to work independently, while meeting internal schedules and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, techniques, skills, materials, and methods of irrigation system design, installation, and maintenance.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to operate equipment such as trenching machines and digging tools and other related grounds/landscape equipment.
Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
Ability to work in safe and efficient manner.
Knowledge of plumbing is preferable.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
Knowledge of soil, vegetation, and climate.
Residential and Commercial Landscape Irrigation Diagnostics and Repair.
Must possess a clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
Must be capable of driving a truck or van and pull a trailer.
Must be capable of operating heavy machinery
Must be able to pass a drug test on a regular basis.
Must be able to effectively communicate by Phone, Text, and Email.
Must be able to operate company software system.
Must be able to effectively solve problems for clients and take ownership of the role.
Required Experience
Have 2-4 Years hands-on Experience in Installing and or Repairing Landscape Irrigation Systems.
