One of the most exciting moments in any major timber frame project is the day the main trusses are set. We're excited to share progress from our latest winery project in the Shenandoah Valley where the massive timber trusses that will define the tasting room are now in place. This is the kind of project that showcases what's possible when design excellence meets construction expertise.

Winery buildings present unique design challenges. The tasting room needs to be welcoming and intimate, encouraging visitors to linger and enjoy wine in a beautiful setting. It needs to support events, educational tastings, and private celebrations. The building also needs to work functionally—with cellar spaces, storage, preparation areas, and staff facilities that might be invisible to guests but are critical to operations.

The massive timber trusses we're setting today define the interior space and create an architectural statement that says "craftsmanship" before guests even taste the wine. These trusses are engineered to span the entire width of the tasting room without interior support columns, creating an open, gallery-like space where the wood itself becomes the design centerpiece.

Setting trusses of this scale requires extraordinary coordination. The trusses are fabricated in our shop with precision joinery, then transported and raised using specialized equipment.
