That line is the whole job. Fix it right, don't waste the customer's time, be someone they don't mind having in their yard.

💧 Full of water. That might be nothing — or it might be $80 a month leaving through a cracked fitting.

In Cape Coral the water table sits inches under your grass, so a wet valve box after rain is normal. Here's how to tell the difference in 60 seconds:

Bail the box out. Turn the system off. Walk away for an hour.

Still empty? Groundwater. Ignore it.
Refilled to the same line? You've got a leak under that box — weeping solenoid, failed diaphragm, or a cracked fitting on the manifold.

Faster tell: with every zone off, look at the low-flow dial on your water meter. If it's turning, it isn't rain.

Three weeks of watering. One zone that never turned on.

The controller counted every minute. The screen showed a clean cycle. But a cut wire meant that zone never got a drop — and there's nothing on the display that would tell you.

By the time the patch shows up, most folks blame chinch bugs or fertilizer. It's usually electrical.

After this month's storms and outages, we're finding controllers running default programs nobody set and zones that haven't fired in weeks.

We run every zone manually, test at the terminals, and set your times to your soil and your watering days.

Not every irrigation problem needs a repair. 💧

One of the most common calls we get for a "broken" head turns out to be turf and dirt grown in around it. The head pops up fine — it just can't throw water past the grass choking it. You get a weak arc and a dry patch a few feet out.

Clear two or three inches around each head and see what happens. It costs nothing and it fixes more heads than people expect.

If it's still weak after that, then it's worth a real look — nozzle, valve, or pressure.

That puddle by your driveway that's still there three days after it rained? If the rest of your yard dried out and this one spot didn't, the rain isn't your problem. Something is putting water there — or trapping it.

Down here in Southwest Florida there are three usual causes, and they're three different fixes:

💧 A broken irrigation line or stuck valve — water leaking underground even when the system's off. Tell: the spot stays wet even during a dry stretch with no rain at all.

🕳️ A low spot or grading issue — the yard is quietly funneling runoff to one place with nowhere to drain. Tell: it only pools after rain or watering, then sits for days.

🌊 Poor drainage / high water table — common near canals and in our flat lots. Tell: it's soggy across a wider area, not just one tight spot, and it lingers all rainy season.

Here's the quick check: watch it during a dry stretch. If the spot stays wet with zero rain and the sprinklers off, you've got a leak underground. If it only floods after rain, it's grading or drainage.

Why it matters beyond the eyesore: standing water rots roots, breeds mosquitoes, invites fungus, and can undermine your driveway or foundation over time. In rainy season it doesn't fix itself — it gets worse.
