A a dad, one of the things we're doing is switching all our receptacles to tamper-resistant receptacles. These outlets, also known as child safety outlets can avoid burns or shocks caused by children sticking their small fingers or items into the outlet.

DID YOU KNOW? Plug in style surge protection devices are commonly used in offices and living rooms to protect expensive electrotonic devices such as TVs, computers, and gaming systems from potentially damaging surge events. Many homeowners may not realize that most newer appliances also utilize sensitive electronics, such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, furnaces, AC units and more. Many of these devices which are the silent back bone of our modern homes, are left critically unprotected from surge events, that over time, can leave these systems inoperable and unreasonably expensive to repair. Unfortunately, this can leave homeowners in hot (or cold) water unexpectedly, with no reasonable choice but costly replacement. Whole home surge protection can provide piece of mind that the systems you rely on daily are being properly protected. Contact Down Home Electric, for your complimentary in-home estimate with a state licensed electrician, to help ensure your home benefits from the protection of a properly installed whole home surge protection system today.

DID YOU KNOW? 200 years ago, in 1821, Michael Faraday created what is now considered the first electric motor. Faradays design centered around a free hanging wire suspended above a magnet submerged in an electrolyte solution (he used mercury at the time). When the suspended wire was subjected to an electrical charge, the wire would spin around the magnet. The experiment did not do much itself but spin, but the idea became so much more over the last 200 years. From this humble beginning, everything from electric and battery powered drills and saws to washers and dryers and electric cars became a reality. We can all thank this simple design for putting more spark in our lives.

First always be sure you use a trusted licensed electrician, and make sure they use only Tamper resistant outlets in your home.
