The Mattis team spent the last few days moving almost 100 tons of granite rip rap rock several hundred yards through the woods and across the marsh to build a Marsh Toe Rip Rap Revetment on the Cape Fear River. When done correctly, a Marsh Toe Revetment effectively reduces wave energy (as in container ships on the Cape Fear River) to allow for recovery of marsh vegetation into previously eroded areas.

We used rubber construction mats to protect the marsh.

This was a successful project with CAMA permits and all. We are super proud of the Mattis Team.
