Boots on the Ground is back, and this time we’re stopping by Gardner Edgerton School District's High School campus! 👷

Project Management Intern Ashton Wheat is taking us along for a tour of the work happening throughout the school, including renovations to the kitchen and commons and progress on the new TRAILS addition.

The TRAILS addition will feature a storm shelter and expanded classroom space for the District’s transition program, which helps students ages 18–21 with exceptionalities develop independent living, communication, and job skills. Inside the high school, renovations are bringing updates to the kitchen and commons, along with an updated coffee shop for students and staff to enjoy.

From refreshed spaces to new opportunities for students, there’s a lot taking shape at Gardner Edgerton High School. Thanks to Ashton for showing us around and giving us a look at the progress!

A great night at The K! Our annual Royals game is always a favorite opportunity to step away from the office and bring our team together.

Great company, perfect weather, and a Royals win made the night even better! We're already excited for next year. Go Royals! 👑⚾

A fire truck, gold shovels, and a bulldozer... we had all the right tools for a successful groundbreaking Monday morning at the site of Kearney Fire & Rescue Protection District's second fire station! 🚒🚑

But even better than the equipment, we celebrated the people! Years of planning and design led up to this moment, and it was great to mark this milestone alongside the KFRPD department and board of directors, families, community supporters, and design and construction team members. The new station will serve Kearney's growing community with three apparatus bays, crew bunks, dayrooms, a kitchen and dining area, PPE and gear storage, wellness spaces, and offices.

This one's personal for our Operations Manager and Owner, Ben Vanderau, as the station will serve his own home community. We've loved working alongside Kearney, MO School District, and we're proud to help bring another meaningful project to life in the community.

Excited to get construction kicked off alongside WSKF Architects and KFRPD!

Newkirk Novak Construction Partners owner Johnny Novak has spent almost a decade serving on the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation Board of Directors, including most recently on the Executive Committee, supporting a school district that has played an important role in both his personal and professional life.

After raising his two daughters in Shawnee Mission School District, he has remained passionate about giving back to the community that helped shape their futures. His dedication to the Foundation reflects his belief in investing in education and creating opportunities for generations of students to come. We are continually impressed by the work of the SMEF and the impact they have on our Shawnee Mission community and beyond. Thank you to their entire team for the engagement, passion, creativity, and difference they are making each day.

Congratulations, Johnny, and thank you for your years of service and leadership. We're proud to celebrate your commitment to the Shawnee Mission community!

Welcome to the first episode of Boots on the Ground, a new series that takes you behind the scenes of the projects we're building and the people bringing them to life.

For our first stop, we're at Platte County R-3 School District's Platte County High School, where Canton Woods, one of our Project Management Interns, gives us a look at the progress on Phase 2. Home of the Platte County Pirates, this project has been an exciting one for our team. We were proud to complete Phase 1 in 2022, which included 26 new classrooms and labs, a gym, commons, kitchen and serving areas, locker rooms, and a new baseball field. Phase 2 adds new classrooms, a black box theater, music spaces, administrative areas, and a media center/library, creating modern learning environments that will support students and staff for years to come.

We're excited to bring you along as we continue sharing progress, partnerships, and the people behind the work through Boots on the Ground. Stay tuned for more jobsite tours and behind-the-scenes looks at the projects shaping our community!

What makes for an ideal week at Newkirk Novak Construction Partners ? This one, where we got to do a little bit of everything we love! Engaging with students, walking a Board of Education through their spaces, and celebrating a ribbon cutting, all in just a few days!

First up, Spring Hill Schools: we had the opportunity to walk alongside Spring Hill board members through three elementary additions that are taking shape. It's awesome to see the excitement about the forward progress in the Spring Hill community!

Next, Smithville School District: our project team enjoyed giving high school architecture and civil engineering students a firsthand look at how design concepts for their school translate into construction on site.

Finally, Liberty Public Schools: we celebrated with a ribbon cutting, complete with an inaugural lap from the track team, on Liberty Middle School's brand-new track, just in time for the season!

Community is at the heart of every project we build, and from student tours to BOE walks to ribbon cuttings, weeks like this one are special to us!
