This Halloween, the scariest thing in your house is the one you can’t see. 👻

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that builds up inside homes. It’s invisible, odorless, and tasteless, and it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S., linked to over 20,000 deaths a year.

The only way to know if it’s in your home is to test. A-1 offers two options:
🔎 Continuous monitor: 48 hours, with an hour-by-hour reading and results shortly after
🔎 Charcoal canisters: 48+ hours, with results in 7-10 days

If levels come back high, we install a mitigation system that vents radon up and out of your home, then return about two weeks later to confirm levels have dropped.

The dreaded brown recluse! Like it or not, these lil monsters are all over the place in NC - and they pack a nasty punch. Er, bite. You know what we mean.

Found bed bugs in your home? It’s stressful, but you have options. 🛏️

Our newest blog breaks down what to expect from professional bed bug treatment in North Carolina:

🔍 Inspection comes first. We check bedrooms, living areas, and the tiny cracks and crevices where bed bugs hide, looking for live bugs, shed skins, eggs, and f***l spots.

🌡️ Treatment is tailored to your home. Depending on the situation, that can mean chemical treatments, heat treatments, cryo-treatments, or a combination, all aimed at every life stage from eggs to adults.

🧺 Prep matters. Declutter, wash and dry bedding and clothing on high heat, vacuum thoroughly, and pull furniture away from the walls so technicians can reach everything.

📅 Follow-up is part of the process. Eggs can be stubborn, so re-inspections usually happen 2-3 weeks after the first treatment to catch anything that hatched later.

Why not DIY? Bed bugs are tiny, nocturnal, and great at hiding, and some have developed resistance to over-the-counter products. DIY often only handles the bugs you can see.
