DID YOU KNOW?

That drilling truck isn’t broken... it’s actually supposed to lift up off the ground like that.

When we drill a well, the truck uses powerful hydraulic jacks called outriggers to stabilize and level the rig before drilling begins. Once those outriggers are set they can lift part, or even all, of the truck’s weight off the tires.

Why? Because drilling puts a LOT of force and vibration on the rig. Lifting and leveling the truck helps:
• Keep the rig stable during drilling
• Prevent shifting or movement in uneven ground
• Distribute the weight more safely
• Help the drill stay straight and accurate

It might look a little wild seeing thousands of pounds suspended in the air… but to our crew, it’s just another day on the job site!

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our country.
Their sacrifice is the reason we get to enjoy the freedoms, families, communities, and simple everyday moments we often take for granted.

From all of us at Schroepfer’s Well Drilling, thank you to those who served, those we’ve lost, and the families who carry their legacy forward each day.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

For some people, work is just a job. For Orville, it’s always been something more.

He still enjoys climbing into the truck, heading out to the jobsite, and being part of the work firsthand. There’s just something about drilling wells, working alongside the crew, and serving the community that never gets old. That kind of dedication says a lot.

This is the part most people never get to see, the work that happens before clean water ever reaches the tap!

What you’re seeing here is part of the active drilling process during a new well installation. The water and slurry flowing across the ground are carrying rock and soil cuttings back up from deep underground as the drill advances farther into the earth. That “muddy mess” is actually a sign that the process is working exactly like it should.

Our crew monitors everything during drilling: from formation changes and water production to bore stability and casing depth, to help ensure the well is drilled properly and safely from the ground up.

It may look like controlled chaos from the outside, but there’s a whole lot of skill, experience, and problem-solving happening in moments like these.

There’s a whole lot more that goes into drilling a well than most people ever get to see.

Early mornings. Muddy boots. Problem solving on the fly. Precision. Patience. A crew that knows how to work together.

Just a few behind-the-scenes moments from another day on the jobsite doing what we do best...helping make sure families, farms, and businesses have access to reliable water.

Around here, it’s not just about drilling a hole in the ground. It’s about doing the job right.

It’s not every day a job feels this close to home.

Last month, we had the chance to drill a well for someone pretty special—Brittany, Anita’s daughter. (And if you’ve ever called the office, you’ve likely talked with Anita 😊)

Orville, Diane, and the whole crew were out for this one, and getting to spend the day drilling on Brittany's property made it a little more meaningful than your average job.

Same work we take pride in every day, just with a few more familiar faces and a lot more smiles.

Those are the days you don’t forget!

Before regulations… there were conversations.

Orville shares how he one of six well drillers who met with the DNR in Rolla for three months—helping shape what became the Water Well Drillers Act.

No votes. Just real experience being heard.

One of the changes? Well heads had to extend above ground.

Simple shift. Big impact!

And a reminder that the standards we follow today were built by the people doing the work.

Most people see the drill rig, but this is what they don’t see 👇

Underground, every well is different:
- Layers of rock, clay, and sand
- Water pockets at different depths
- Precise placement to protect your water quality

There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to drilling a well, every job is a mix of experience, knowledge, and knowing what’s beneath your feet.

That’s why doing it right the first time matters!

Have you ever wondered how deep your well actually is? 🤔

Spring is here… which means everything is waking back up—including your well.

After a long winter, now’s the time to ask:
✔️ Has your water pressure changed?
✔️ Any odd tastes or smells?
✔️ System running louder than usual?

Small issues now can turn into big (and expensive) problems later.

A quick check today can save you a headache in the middle of summer when your water is working overtime.

If something feels “off,” trust your gut—your well is usually trying to tell you something.

What’s the first thing you’d miss if your water stopped working… right now?

🚿 Hot showers
☕️ Your morning coffee
🚽 Indoor plumbing

We don’t think about our water much—until it’s not there.

That’s the difference with a private well. It’s your water, on your property, and when it’s done right… it just works.
