Our student interns have arrived for their summer internships. This year we have three from Pittsburg State University’s Wood Product Manufacturing Department. We’re looking forward to a great summer with these talented guys! We hit the first week off strong and I’m always amazed of the knowledge they bring to the table.

Some really nice thermally modified ash wood material for a project. A very beautiful natural product with a high degree of exterior durability. We add a level of protection from a water-based product from Renner wood coating called Hydo-oil. 🇺🇸

Big glass last week. Jumbo trapezoids with 8mm glass panes x3. High performance glazing for the Kansas climate. Hot summer temps and cold winters, our clients will be comfortable year round!

We attended the annual Pittsburg State University Wood Product Manufacturing Company day last week. It was a great time engaging with prospective students and catching up with some old friends.

We were proud to host our very first 4-H Woodworking Workshop this week, welcoming a great group of young people eager to learn, build, and create with their hands.

Participants worked through the process of crafting their own wall clock — learning how to safely use woodworking tools, measure accurately, shape materials, and assemble a finished piece they can take home with pride. More importantly, they gained exposure to the kind of problem-solving, patience, and attention to detail that are at the heart of woodworking and the skilled trades.

It has been incredibly rewarding to see the level of curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm these students brought to the shop. Opportunities like this help introduce the next generation to meaningful career paths while building confidence and practical life skills that extend far beyond the workshop.

This was our first workshop of this kind, and based on the excitement and engagement we’ve seen, we’re already looking forward to offering it again next year — and exploring the possibility of expanding into more advanced sessions.

A big thank you to the local 4-H program, the students, and the families who made this experience possible. The future of craftsmanship is in good hands.
