With another possible shutoff on the calendar this weekend, here’s what we’re doing at our house to get ready.

• Make sure the fridge and freezer are set as cold as they’ll go before it hits
• Charge phones, power banks, and any battery-powered fans
• freeze bottled water to completely fill the empty spaces in the freezer.
• Know which lights and outlets you actually need if power is limited
• Have a plan for the fridge if it’s out more than a few hours

Last Saturday Asotin through Critchfield was only out for about three hours, but it still made people pay attention.

Anything else you all do to get ready when these warnings come out?

Showed my wife the new avista outage warnings tonight. We’re in the area that’s scheduled for Saturday power shut off due to heat and wind forecast.

She’s already worried about the food in the fridge, freezer, the air conditioner, and having to take cold showers if it goes longer than a few hours.

Last Saturday Asotin through Critchfield was only out for about three hours after the big warning. Still feels different when it’s your own house on the list.

Anyone else in the same boat this weekend?
