WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY: Animal Services recently picked up a Copperhead snake on Green Brook Court. Grapevine Animal Shelter and Adoption Center has been getting more calls from people asking if a snake they've spotted is actually a copperhead, or if it is dangerous, so we wanted to share what they actually look like. Copperheads can be identified by their distinct brown and tan banding down the length of their bodies. They are venomous, so please do not try to kill or move them yourself. Most bites result from people taking unnecessary risks, or if the snake is surprised or cornered.

Texas Parks and Wildlife offers the following advice on how to avoid them:

*Keep the lawn around your home trimmed low.
*Remove any brush, wood, rock or debris piles from around the residence - they make great hiding places for snakes and their prey - rodents.
*Always wear shoes while outside and never put your hands where you cannot see them.
*Be careful when stepping over fallen logs and rock outcroppings.
*Take care along creek banks and underbrush.

Another beautiful home in Highland Village spruced up for summer! ☀️For this project we handled a basic clean up of w**ds, leaves, and debris. We then cleaned out flower beds and installed fresh brown mulch from a local vendor (side note... we do not used bagged mulch instead we use a finer quality mulch that lasts longer and looks much better!) We finished off by trimming bushes and adding some color by installing some flowers. 🌸🌹🌻

After each project we collect all branches, bags, etc from the site and dump at an appropriate location for you! No mess for you to worry about. 🎉🤗
